@gorrillavision @aeterponis per-capita you might be right. I think piracy affects big game releases much more, but these big games also have a lot more people legitimately purchasing them, so that level of piracy is usually offset by the sales. Different story for indies ofc

Refunding a cheap indie game that you actually enjoyed, just because you beat it in under 2 hours, isn't a "life hack". It's just evil. And to the people saying "just make the game longer" you are the exact reason companies like Ubisoft get away with pumping out empty, soulless over 100 hour games designed only to waste your time.

@redrummarts SF is uplifting because the bar for anything to be considered uplifting is basically on the floor at this point. Hopers got the Superman movie and besides that there's basically been nothing else as of late.

@AFCLucas3 @messedupfoods If we're looking at minimum wage work, which is the majority of all jobs, I think the vast majority of those people would describe themselves as financially desperate. It's an arrangement that only works because the employer has an unfair financial advantage for XYZ reasons.

@aeterponis Not even considering the refund policy, I think as a dev it's a good idea to make a game with at least two hours of content if you can. Movies can do less because good movies engage the viewer at all moments. It's really hard to make a game as engaging as a great movie can be.

@aeterponis I'd assume higher rates of refunds than piracy because if it's a small indie game there's a high chance nobody has shared it via torrent or whatever.

@aeterponis How many people are actually refunding games on Steam like this? I feel like it's gotta be around, maybe slightly more than people who pirate games, no? I'd guess there's more refunders than shoplifters because with the latter there's social and legal consequence.

@cosmikchaaya Trends like isekais being popular is whatever to me, and I overall think the culture is still pretty good. You might run into a larper sometimes but it's pretty rare. I'm not gonna gatekeep somebody who has a genuine interest just because I spent more time, that's dumb imo.

@cosmikchaaya I didn't go this year, but I wanted to. I still like anime quite a lot, but anime becoming mainstream has made parts of it worse. A lot of it is now gacha slop (because they make hella money), and I basically view these things as legal casinos, so that doesn't feel great.

I think this was my last year at AX. The crowds were very intense and I think I’ve just outgrown it. Regardless, it was a fun 7 year run! 🎉 Happy retirement to meeee

@pheresome I went to BB a few months ago to pick up the Logitech X2 Superstrike mouse. It's pricey but I needed a new mouse for games and this one feels really good to use. Buying it in person allowed me to save about 30% on the total price. But yeah it was almost completely deserted😔
