I'm in my 40s. Here's the plan I'd run if I could start over at 20. In my 20s: Optimize for learning. • Get into tech and learn as much as you can. • Take the job with the most room to grow. • Move abroad if you get the chance. It rewires you. • Travel hard now, while no one depends on you. • Save and invest from your first paycheck. • Start the audience and the side projects early. • Build the health habits you'll lean on for the next 40 years. In my 30s: Optimize for wealth. • Now go for the top-paying role. • Start a family if you want one. • Buy the house if you haven't already. • Invest harder. Compounding needs the runway. • Grow the audience and start shipping products. • Guard your body and your diet. It gets harder from here. In my 40s: Optimize for time. • Leave the corporate job, unless you love it. • By now your investments, audience, or products should cover most of it. • Build a solo founder or family business to keep you alive and get extra income. • Spend the time you bought with the people you love. • Make work fully optional. • Keep taking care of your health, now more than ever. I'm somewhere in that 40s section, still working on it.
