Firefighters made an aggressive attack to quickly knock down the fire, while performing a primary search and checking for extension to the adjacent structure. Approximately 40 firefighters responded to the incident. No injuries were reported to firefighters or civilians. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

STR VCFD along with LA County Fire is on scene of a working structure fire in the 900 block of Westcreek Lane in city of Thousand Oaks. Units on scene are reporting a 2-story, multi family with smoke showing from a 2nd story apartment. Firefighters are aggressively attacking the fire while conducting a search of the apartment and adjacent units to ensure everyone has evacuated safely. Firefighters are also working to protect exposures in nearby occupancies. Approximately 50 firefighters are committed to the incident.

VCFD and Ventura City Fire firefighters, along with AMR and CHP, responded to a technical rescue along Foothill Rd, west of the City of Santa Paula. Upon arrival, firefighters located two individuals stranded approximately 30 feet in the air after the boom lift they were operating malfunctioned. Firefighters from Ventura City Fire’s Medic Truck 5, supported by personnel from both Ventura City Fire and VCFD, executed a coordinated rescue—safely bringing the individuals down using their aerial ladder. Both individuals were unharmed and did not require medical attention. This incident highlights the importance of interoperability between Ventura City Fire and VCFD, demonstrating how our agencies work together seamlessly to provide fire, rescue, and EMS services—regardless of jurisdictional boundaries.

VCFD and Oxnard firefighters responded to a residential duplex garage fire in the 100 block of Santa Paula Ave in Silverstrand. During the incident, firefighters from Oxnard Truck 81 rescued a young boy from the third story, guiding him to the second floor and then safely down a ladder to the ground. The child was evaluated on scene by firefighter paramedics and Gold Coast Ambulance personnel. VCFD along with Oxnard Fire and VCSO is on scene of a small, single engine aircraft that crashed into a drainage in the area of Carmen Drive and Lucero Street in Camarillo. Firefighters successfully extricated two patients from the aircraft. Both were transported with severe injuries in critical condition to a local hospital. The aircraft did not collide with any structures in the area. Firefighters are remaining on scene to address and mitigate any remaining hazards. Notifications have been made to the FAA.

VCFD along with VCSO is on scene of a brushfire near Haynes Road and the 126 freeway east of the city of Fillmore. Forward progress has been stopped at approximately 1-2 acres. The fire was reported in light to medium fuels with a slow rate of spread. Firefighters made an aggressive attack both from the air and from the ground. Approximately 60 firefighters are currently assigned to the incident and will remain on scene for several hours mopping up. There were no structures threatened or damaged, and no injuries to firefighers or civilians. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The fire impacted a row of eucalyptus trees, causing damage to a number of avocado trees in a nearby orchard. Forward progress has been stopped, and firefighters will remain on scene throughout the day mopping up and checking for any additional hot spots. CHP has issued a closure of Balcom Canyon Road between the 118 freeway and Stockton Road. The closure is anticipated to continue until at least 12pm. There were no structures threatened or damaged by the fire. Approximately 50 firefighters responded to the fire, and there were no injuries reported to firefighters or civilians. Units on scene reported a contents fire confined to a single unit of a 2 story, multi-unit apartment complex. Firefighters quickly knocked down the fire while performing a primary search to ensure all occupants had evacuated. Firefighters will remain on scene performing salvage and overhaul operations. There were no injuries reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

Ventura County Fire Department, California Highway Patrol, and AMR are on scene of a vehicle-versus-train collision in the Oxnard Plains area outside the City of Camarillo. A southbound Metrolink Train 118 struck a vehicle at an intersection. Tragically, the driver of the vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene. The train was carrying 14 passengers and a two-person crew. No injuries have been reported, and all passengers and crew remain on board at this time. Firefighters encountered heavy fire from one unit of a 2-story apartment complex and immediately began an aggressive fire attack. A primary search of the affected apartments confirmed that all residents had safely evacuated. The fire was contained to a single unit in the complex with damage to an adjacent unit. 4 residents were displaced by the fire. Today, the @VCFD, the @VCHCA , joined by @OxnardFire and @cityofventura Fire Dept., brought a little Halloween magic to some of our community’s bravest children at Ventura County Medical Center.
