@ABCXYBOI The app isn’t sold or supported in China because of the great firewall. It makes connectivity and support through Discord a nightmare. Once China gets internet like the rest of the world does, I will gladly sell the app there. Won’t bend over backwards otherwise.

@VRDesktop Hi,We need more mainstream languages.For example, Chinese and Spanish are needed by a considerable number of players in China.They need to use your software, but because they don't support Chinese, they buy a low-priced translation, which is piracy.

@Lunayian Sometimes picking up the headset from your desk will also trigger the “Double tap for passthrough” so you won’t see any UI and nothing will work. Only way out is to double tap again but the average user won’t know and will have to restart headset with a pwr button long press 💩

Meta needs to either remove the "Double Tap for Passthrough" feature or re-add the toggle for it. In HzOS 2.1 it doesn't even seem to work properly, ie. if you're in Loft and change to Passthrough Home via Double Tap, then start a VR app, when you quit you'll be back in Loft.

@VRDesktop okay many thanks I will do that , im not the only person with the issue the only way i found the fix for it was on PFD discord, when its enabled i get no tracking and the display moves with my head

@GenShakewell Let me be clear: we didn’t break anything. OpenComposite is an unmaintained piece of software that has a ton of issues and is quite brittle. We simply added a warning to say that we will not provide support for it.

@mixedrealityTV @VRDesktop Just Galaxy XR or will it work for PFD too? I love the foveated transport from Steamlink on that headset and can't go back after using it, but I miss all the rest of what we get in Virtual Desktop and would prefer to use that at all times.

@cly3d Depends on the game. Some games will render a third view, independent of the resolution the actual game runs at but the majority of games use one of the eyes to render the mirror on screen; in those cases, the VR Graphics Quality you use will affect the OBS capture

question: - On #VirtualDesktop for PCVR, am I right in assuming "potato" rez will be less stress for the HMD while full rez of the game will still run on the PC window? (To be recorded by OBS) If not, can we make it happen? @VRDesktop I don't care for hmd visual fidelity.

@SmallBaguette @SpatialBiggs Foveated rendering is something games must implement, not Virtual Desktop, SteamLink or AirLink. Virtual Desktop does send the eye tracking data so if a game wants to implement it, they can.

@VRDesktop @SpatialBiggs Valve are definitely doing foveated rendering over wifi with steam frame. And I just found out people already have been doing it for quite some time with OpenXR toolkit and Quest Pro wirelessly. Has your stance on this not being doable changed since November?

I think people are missing low latency eye tracking should give us a pipeline for the highest end VR possible. Other headsets can't do this right now. You're going to passthrough dynamic foveated rendering with eye tracking from high end PCs rolling 5090+

That would have been the ideal scenario IMO. Right now the OS updates are a nightmare on Quest. Every OS update breaks a ton of things. There’s no QA whatsoever. We receive complaints from users on PTC, we as developers have to report those issues to Meta otherwise they don’t get fixed. Sometimes they’ll still push to live knowing full well they are breaking many apps/games. We have to handle all the user complaints/support related to OS updates.

I was mostly yelling into a void and being ignored. There was a point where I thought there was a small chance that I might actually be put in charge, but the idea of a "VR Dictator" that actually told people what to do was too counter to the collaborative managerial ethos that was esteemed.

all jokes aside my brother going on a pod & casually unloading sensitive internal stuff without explicit permission is pure rookie behavior. a cardinal sin if you will & any serious company would instantly nuke you for it esp someone like elon. as an employee, you do not get to unilaterally appoint yourself spokesperson especially about your leader’s working style, internal processes, or culture. that’s breach of trust 101. modern media rewards talking. but companies reward discretion. confuse the two & you get exactly this outcome. hopefully you learn an important lesson, get another shot somewhere else, & don’t make the same unforced error again. even the most autistic engineers understand this boundary.

Great video. Recommend you give it a watch Outside of funding cuts to Skydance and Cloudhead: I can add that they’ve also laid off some individuals who were running Meta’s Horizon Start Program (which funds some developers who apply) (Also Meta’s Phoenix isn’t for VR gaming)

@GAMERTAGVR drop a bomb ! It appears that Meta has cancelled a Harry Potter game developed by Skydance, even though it had already been funded to the tune of tens of millions of dollars... Meta seems to be clearly abandoning gaming. In addition to that, several key people at Oculus Studios have reportedly been laid off. They haven't named names, but it's reasonable to assume that Ruth Bram (@ARVRGirl) and ChrisPruett are among them... youtu.be/_OeL516hJzw?si… #VR #Quest3

For the record, I don’t think the focus for Meta’s Phoenix MR glasses being not on gaming is a bad thing It will be quite good at what it’s trying to do.. I just don’t want people waiting for something that isn’t suiting what they want out of a headset

State of the Quest ecosystem: Horizon home is stuck loading forever with CPU cranked to 8. By the time you launch your app, the headset can't keep the cpu at level 8 so loading is sluggish and the SoC is at high temperature. It's been like this for 8 months...

@LunaTuna52 Press the trigger while pointing below the screen and click “Add monitor”. If the button is grayed out, click “Arrange monitors” in the Settings tab in the menu. Finally if you still don’t see the third monitor, try restarting your PC.

@VRDesktop I'm not quite sure what is going on. I have a 3 monitor set up but only 2 show up. It was showing 3 before, but suddenly it only shows 2. Is there a way to this? Thanx!!!!

Non-VR games means there’s no OpenXR or VDXR involved. If you are trying to play flat games with controllers; those probably read input at a lower level than what VD emulates and that won’t work. You can use a gamepad paired with your headset or you’ll have to play with keyboard/mouse paired with your pc
