The first episode of our new documentary series @RedactedLives is out now. It tells the stories of women and children who spent time in mother and baby homes. It has been such a privilege to work with survivors for the past year to create the series. jrnl.ie/5913824t

Reporter: "Mr Biden, a word for the BBC?" #PresidentBiden2020: "BBC? I'm Irish..." Now, what was that about the Internal Markets Bill...?

Ireland is one of the least forested countries in Europe. Ironically, the commercial mass planting of non-native tree species has done much environmental damage in delicate habitats. This report on the issue is an excellent example of vital crowd-funded journalism

#SprucedUp: Our investigation into forestry in Ireland highlights continued planting on sensitive peatlands and other high nature value areas despite known biodiversity impacts. Read Part One of our investigation now: noteworthy.ie/spruced-up-pt1…

@conormlally My point is not about the advert either, but about your attempt to dismiss a very valid opinion by pointing a finger to comments. My point stands and the work The Journal's team does speaks for itself as to why you would be better off considering the criticism instead.

@adoaco My point isn’t about the advert we published. Out of loyalty to colleagues I won’t comment on that. My point is that someone whose own outlet deliberately publishes /facilitates publication of bile every day is not well placed to critique others; it’s hypocritical

Christine, out of interest, have you looked in on the comments section of the journal lately? I’d respectfully (genuinely) suggest that would need to be addressed before you could critique what other media outlets would or wouldnt publish. Just an idea, no offence intended 👍
Christine Bohan@ChristineBohan

There's a responsibility on the media to be thoughtful and smart about what we publish. This ad is irresponsible. The language in it is the same as in many of the far-right Facebook pages we monitor (including the ones who turned up outside our door to intimidate us). Do better.

Blast from the past: Playhouse light show at Liberty Hall, autumn 2009. 100,000 LED light units were installed in 330 windows on the south and west faces of the building, with animations uploaded by the public.

People! Just finishing writing a chapter on local investigative journalism and have covered some interesting ground already but don't want to miss anything amazing. What are your favourite local news stories that had an investigative component over the last few years? Thanks

🚨 A short thread on how we can work for you in the time of #coronavirus 🚨 Here @noteworthy_ie we take our cue from YOU on what we should spotlight through our investigative work. You submit ideas, we shape them into investigative proposals; you fund those, we deliver answers.

There is a *lot* of misinformation about coronavirus being shared in Ireland. We'll use this thread to debunk the ones that we come across. To start with: no, that WhatsApp voice message about Ireland going into a Status Red lockdown from Monday morning is not true.

ICYMI - Opinion: "Some policy errors are reversible. Some mistakes can be fixed later. Letting the genetic code of a sizeable chunk of the Irish population fall into private hands to be used for profit, forever, isn’t one of the fixable kinds of mistakes." jrnl.ie/5033373t
