Saw a tweet about re reading classics from school, so now I want to do same. If you schooled in Nigeria, what were the recommended texts you remember from your literature class? Please send me all even the ones you hated. I’ll comply the top 20 as a reading list. Thank you!

@kenkenlewu In my book, The Memories of a Ghetto Boy, I depict the realities of life in the slums for underprivileged children. I mentioned that hawking is often the first profession for many boys and girls from the ghetto. However,it is not something anyone would proudly include on their CV

“This boy’s name is Ugochukwu. He’s just 13 years old. He walked into our new office today to brand his apron. When he came in, he greeted everybody and asked if we brand cloths. I nodded in agreement, looking at him. Then he brought out apron. “ Brother, I want to write ‘Business Boy’ on this apron”, he said, looking at me. “ Who is the business boy?” I asked. “Is me! I hawk pap in the street. People know me as business boy. I want to write it on my apron. How much ? “ I was very happy seeing someone at his age creating such unique way of marketing himself. I asked him to take a sit and engaged him in a cool business talk. He revealed that he loves business, he enjoys selling goods and making money. He wants to be a businessman in future. I gave him the advice I could at the moment . I really love that boy❤️ We kept talking until my worker was done with his apron branding . He was so happy when I gave it to him. “Brother how much, ego ole?” “ Don’t worry, Ugo. Don’t pay! It is our little way of showing support to your business and what you said you’ll be in future. We’re proud of you. Jisie Ike!” I said to him. Ugo was very happy and fulfilled. “ I wanted to do this 2 years ago, but my mother said the amount for cloth branding is too expensive, so I stopped, but still had it in mind. Just today today I broke my saving-box and decided to come.” “We’re happy to do it for you without you paying. We like what you’re doing.” I saw how happy he was while leaving the office, and I was happy too for encouraging him to be better. May he prosper in all he does 🙏 ©U.E

@Oluseyithompso1 @Awedathefirst That's an advantage for him. I'm just sceptical. Tinubu and Ladoja might make a deal with him. I just don't think he's the right candidate for the state

@Oluseyithompso1 @Awedathefirst As I said in my book, politicians will always be more popular at the grassroots than intellectuals. The love people have for him is insane. I understand that love doesn't win elections, but Oriyomi will decide who gets what in the next elections

@the_beardedsina In Nigeria, if you've money and influence (maybe power), you're a Nigerian; otherwise, you're your tribe: Yoruba, Igbo, Fulani... Therefore, being a Nigerian endows you with "Immunity" against vices of all kinds. That's why Nigeria is where it is.

I i was telling my wife the other day that I feel so bad for Gen zs and the generation after them. I was at an event that had a lot of them, and it was just sad. Bad Govt and bad economy have robbed them of having a vibrant social life. They hardly buy drinks at the club, can't afford cars, and can't afford decent apartments, so they create their own little way of having fun in raves and the likes. No money to afford drinks. That's why you see prevalent recreational drug use in that demographic From Uni, I was able to properly plan and go clubbing and will have such an amazing time, i would fly from Benin to Lagos with 10k then and not pay it any thought. When I started working, my first car was 700k, a 2006 EOD in 2012 then, and when I moved to my first apartment. Rent was 1m for a 2bed on the island, and 1hp ac was 60k. I remember buying a ticket to Venice for 180k and changing 2000usd for 360k at southern sun that year. I feel so bad for them, their youth taken away from them because bad govt after bad govt, devaluation after devaluation.
