Had the same experience recently. Unlike you, though I ended up having to migrate to the e-visa before I was allowed to board. I did it through the ukvi website. Downloaded the 'immigration check app' and linked my visa using the nfc chip in my passport. Funny enough, I was asked to present my visa upon arrival in the UK 😅. I refused since the visa slip is in my expired passport and told the officer that he must scan my passport and use the e-visa. I even had my share code on hand. Little win there for me at least...

Recently, I was able to board a flight from a certain country to London and upon getting to the check in counter, I was told that there was a problem. They couldn’t board me because according to them, my UK visa (even though it was months from expiry) was no longer valid.

My take from this is that in the same situation, wouldn’t have thought to ask about seeing a copy of the law. Such an eye-opener.

I was confused and my head first did a “I’m sorry what???” The person at the check in desk was like “yeah, the UK has moved to an E-visa system so you need an E-visa to board” Again me still confused. “I have a VALID UK visa” they still refused to board me
