@RebecTV I blame the binge watch / arc obsession. Classic Who has self contained, confident, engaging logical stories spread over weeks. Who post 2017, in common with a lot of new TV (see star wars, star trek) thinks you'll be watching in one sitting with a flip chart.

Ok I think I've put my finger on one of my biggest pet peeves. When writers feel the need to drastically change canon for no good reason. 2005 Who had the Time War and Time Lords gone but that was a fresh start, a new page. The crazy changes in recent years feel more desperate

@BernardJKD I think the plot structure is actually really similar, even down to the conclusion. It's still the poor relation to both through bad luck and bad direction (I actually think the design is better but the rushed execution is a disaster).

@anthonyforth Warriors' story is too similar to Earthshock's story really. There's a significant lot of differences between the stories in Resurrection and Warriors.

This is Peter Davison telling you Doctor Who - Warriors of the Deep special edition is a big improvement. He is right but I am now left wondering if it is too similar to Resurrection of the Daleks. It's a Remembrance of the Daleks / Silver Nemesis discussion again! #DoctorWho

@postmdernsleaze True. They're trying to do action / thriller again. The fact they nearly pull it off is impressive (sort the effects, add some extra shots, tighten the edit and you're there). Warriors and Res have the same plot structure tho. Earth at least feels like a different story.

@anthonyforth For sure. I think the bigger issue is that both stories are trying very hard to be “Earthshock,” frankly.

I’m not sure which is worse. Maybe stop blaming migrants, the poor, people on benefits… you know the people with zero power. Maybe you should be blaming the establishment.
