@jasonqsmith @legalrealist @potatoslav @MMKivekas TBF if you think you've got it bad in 2022 the world cup in Qatar built an entire football infrastructure in a desert with disposable imported slave labour and then refused to sell beer in the stadium. Count yourself lucky.

@mtracey I think in other words he's paying back the billions Kushner got from the US taxpayer.

Trump says he'll give some kind of financial bailout to the UAE, because he found it "shocking" they were hit so hard; he thought Iran would only try to strike Israel. (So in other words, there was instant escalation beyond what he anticipated, and now the US will foot the bill)

@gregharty @potatoslav @MMKivekas I walked a mile to a cinema in Utah and the hotel I was staying at was so concerned they sent a driver to the cinema car park to check I got there. It is unreasonable.

@antic2000 @potatoslav @MMKivekas 350m people don’t “think” collectively. Lots of people want infrastructure improvements. This is not about “thinking” that walk is reasonable. It objectively is unreasonable. If you warn me against doing something silly in ur country I hope I’d listen w/out lecturing you about it

Let me get this straight. Kushner got $2B from Saudi Arabia. $1.5B from Qatar and UAE. $110M+ in fees. Now he's leading US negotiations with Iran — while reportedly asking Saudis for another $5B. And the White House says "no conflict of interest"? The only thing missing is a ski mask.

@antic2000 @potatoslav @MMKivekas “The US” didn’t make that spot unwalkable, a few land developers bribing politicians did. “The US” didn’t decide to host these games: a few billionaires bribing politicians did. She’s trying to save anyone coming from having the worst day of your lives trying to walk there.

Okay: what would we be saying now, if it transpired that e.g. Seumas Milne had been passing privileged info to foreign criminals linked to intelligence services, and had serious, non-transparent exposure to Russian oligarchs and Chinese business interests?

@antic2000 @potatoslav @MMKivekas The point is: no one here is defending the meadowlands. I know it’d be so much easier for your brain if they were. All people are saying, all OP is saying, is that walking this trek under the current conditions would be dangerous, and those conditions don’t seem to be changing.

The Justin Horton Show
The official account of Corbyn's leadership is that it failed because of unpopular policies and internal antisemitism. The truth is, it was brought down by massive hysteria and internal sabotage, in which Peter Mandelson and our political correspondents were central players.
