I defended my PhD dissertation yesterday and I’m feeling overwhelmingly grateful for all the support I’ve had from those around me over the course of five years. I’ve had a great time doing some neat science in the @woutten_lab and meeting some of the best people along the way!

Today in @PNASNews, the first genetically encoded fluorescent sensor for #manganese! My student Jen Park @bioJenP re-engineered the EF hands of lanmodulin to selectively respond to Mn(II) and used the resulting sensors to study Mn dynamics in bacteria. pnas.org/doi/10.1073/pn…
