All of the stuff we can see — galaxies, stars, planets, trees, people — are made of ordinary matter, but this only accounts for about 5% of what’s out there. The rest is some combination of so-called “dark matter” and “dark energy.”

According to Johnson, he felt this experience was valuable for his future career as he was able to see different areas of a hospital firsthand to determine what area he liked best.

The origins of ultrahigh-energy cosmic rays are one of the biggest mysteries in the field of astronomy and astrophysics. New, Penn State-led research suggests that some of the highest-energy cosmic rays may consist of atomic nuclei heavier than iron.
