Life with no chance of parole

1am, 80 miles from home. Pothole, blowout. Gave one of the kids my good jack because, well that’s what dad’s do. Almost immediately broke the jack that came with my car in half (Is this a jack for Hotwheels ?). In such a remote place, triple A can’t find anyone to help with some roadside assistance. Wife’s sick. I don’t know anyone in this town. Had to wake my son up, and without hesitation he drove the 2 hours with a jack to help get Dad’s ass out of a crack. The role reversal felt weird. The reality is that these role reversals will become more frequent the longer I live. I think back to the time he beat me arm wrestling for the first time. Circle of life or something. Don’t ever let someone psy-op you that having a family isn’t the greatest thing you can do with your life.
