@doofgeek4011 Gen 3:22 “Man has become like one of us, knowing good/evil.” So they gain a new “knowledge of good/evil” after eating fruit, but it is claimed they were morally responsible before they had this knowledge. You have to appeal to some limited awareness before eating to make sense.

@sola_chad So once you get married, Paul says you should have a lot of sex right? Right!? No, much better to be single and celebate forever then to be tempted by the Satan, but if you must to quell fiery passions, you must. What a Chad.

@KeeperOfGamingY @darwintojesus Fair; it’s hard to generalize confidently without a specific and narrow context. My response was to the second comment barring the use of better as a concept within an atheist framework. Good/bad/better/worse are still usable without contradiction by atheists.

@cpchambe @darwintojesus You are correct there but the initial argument was strictly that atheists are better at being Christians than Christians But, yeah, some Christians don't read it completely But most atheists that I have talked to just know Buzz verses rather than any substantial verse knowledge

@KeeperOfGamingY @darwintojesus I’m not arguing that Atheist make better Christians, though they often score significantly higher on general knowledge of Bible surveys. I’m arguing that Atheists aren’t barred from claiming something/anything is ‘better’ necessarily.

@cpchambe @darwintojesus I would love your explanation for them being better on Christ's teachings because you're probably going to pull out Don't Judge or Love Thy Neighbor verses Which will have me point out the verse where Jesus directly told someone to sin no more and credited people for changing

@darwintojesus Saying ‘there are no children in this room’ while knowing humans exist is nothing like atheism. ‘Children’ are just a definable subset of humans. God isn’t a subset of something we already know exists—you still have to demonstrate that kind of being exists at all.

@darwintojesus What Jesus’ death significant theologically is not how much he suffered, but who was suffering and why. The claim ‘Jesus suffered the most’ or comparing suffering misses the theological point.

@darwintojesus & yet Christians claim followers suffered much more intense, creative deaths. Pilate was surprised (Mk 15:43-44) that Jesus died within several hours; so Jesus didn’t even suffer the most tormented crucifixion that day. Luke reports two individuals suffering longer (Lk 23:32-43)

@firewirenz @NotEvolution1 Can you guess why she had to demineralize everything? Bc the dinosaur bones were fossilized, i.e. cell tissue and space replaced with mineral-rock. She found she could recover collagen fibre matrices if she dissolved the minerals, & find trace cell structure & pigments in its net

@realBigStanH Inventing a named divine being and rival in influence to Yah betrays that Enochic traditions and Zoroastrianism mythology had been incorporated into 2nd Temple Hebrew philosophy. Understanding its origins renders this request ridiculous and wrong headed.

@realBigStanH Satan is not a being, it’s more properly understood as a role a divine being may take. You act ‘as a śāṭān’ when you accuse or oppose someone. (Numbers 22:22, 32; 1 Kings 11:14, 23; Matthew 16:23) Disciples may act as a śāṭān, so may angels, perhaps Yah himself in OG Num 22.

@NotEvolution1 No one thinks molecules randomly snap into a full cell. OoL research shows processes where chemistry organizes molecules into increasingly complex systems, like lipid membranes, replicating molecules, and protocells. You are straw-manning your own guy, Dr. Tour.

@darwintojesus “God is a necessary precondition” is asserted, not demonstrated. You’re assuming God is required to explain logic, morality, order, reason etc. but those things all have naturalistic explanations under active study

@darwintojesus Consciousness is immediately and universally experienced by humans and can be empirically studied. No direct experience that God is universally accessible or and no agreed-upon empirical detection method.

A cup is something insignificant within our universe, it doesn’t affect the fabric of reality whether there’s a cup or not. But unlike a cup, if a greatest possible being exists and created our reality, that would have major ramifications on the nature of our world and on our lives, hence why atheists spend all their time trying to convince us they don’t believe it. Some things can be denied without being foolish, like a cup you don’t see. Other things not so much. You don’t see your consciousness, for example… but you believe it exists. Consciousness is necessary for the ability to see in the first place. So to say “I’m not conscious” would be very foolish. It’s the same way with God. God, like consciousness, is a necessary precondition to making sense of our existence and the world around us. Denying the existence of God is like denying the laws of logic. It’s foolish. Unlike the cup, we see evidence all around us for God. We see the existence of moral truths that are real and binding on us, we see that the universe is rational, we see order and design, intelligence, information, fine tuning, etc. For some of these things God is the best explanation, for others…. God is the only explanation. The only people operating on blind faith with no reason or evidence to justify it—are atheists.
