@KKRWeRule What is wrong with the Portuguese team? Is it ronaldo? Is it the defence? Is it the coach and his tactics?

It is not my team, it is our country. If you feel you need an incentive to support your national team, then I honestly don't know what to say. Going by that logic, countries like Bangladesh should have no support either. Yet their fans proudly back the national team despite being ranked 181 because they love both their country and football. The same can be said for Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Tajikistan and many others across Asia. Do you think every lower-league club in Europe plays great football? Of course not. Their fans still turn up because they love the game and feel a connection to their city and club. Support is not always about success. Sometimes it is simply about belonging.

@markklfc Intent doesn't matter. If you tackle with studs up or a two footed challenge the referee doesn't see the players intent. Truth is Rules for Messi are different than other players

Thierry Henry on the VAR check involving Lionel Messi: 🗣️ “I’ve seen a lot of people saying that should have been a red card, but for me, intent is very important when you analyse these situations properly.” “When you watch it again, you can clearly see that Lionel Messi is focused on the ball and trying to make a football action, not trying to hurt anyone.” “Yes, there is contact. Yes, it looks awkward. But not every collision is a red card.” “That’s exactly why VAR exists — to slow everything down and determine whether there was any malicious intent or serious foul play.” “The officials looked at it carefully and in the end didn't even believe it was worth a yellow card.” “People are reacting because it’s Messi. If it was another player, I don't think there would be nearly as much controversy.” “For me, it was accidental, unfortunate, and nothing more than that.” “Football is a contact sport, and sometimes incidents look far worse in real time than they actually are.”

@7negiashish If this model is allowed within the next 6 months, India has a chance. Otherwise forget it. The grassroot development model is going to take at least 20 years for India to be successful. Also the corruption has to be removed from AIFF.

If FIFA decides to expand the 2030 World Cup to 64 teams, then the AFC should receive at least 11.5 qualification slots. With Asia's population, investment in football, improving competitiveness and the growing number of nations capable of competing at World Cup level, a proportional increase in AFC representation would be justified.

@shambhav15 That means you will only support when things are going good? After 83 triumph India didn't win any ICC trophy till 2007. Did the fans stop supporting them? You are not a true fan if you stop supporting your team during bad times.

@shambhav15 Exactly why can India not excel in two sports at the same time? Why is there so much hatred amongst the fans of cricket and football. But yes Football does need a similar kind of backing for what BCCI is doing to indian cricket. Good infrastructure, grassroot development

Seeing a lot of comments like this: Why does one sport have to die for others to succeed? Rugby Is New Zealand’s biggest sport. They didn’t have to kill rugby to qualify for the World Cup. India can be Good at Cricket AND Football Instead of hating on the one successful sport India has, learn how we can apply that success to football
`@wristofkohli

As long as Indian football fans will hate Indian cricket. Indian football will never match the heights of Indian cricket.

Football is a Soft Power. India should invest in Football. Need to rejuvenate I League & ISL. Pool of 25 players should be handpicked and invested. Crack in the Top 10 of Asian rankings (currently we are in mid 20s in Asia itself), and sneak one time to Fifa WC. Then, we will rise up no matter what. It'll be Indian Football's '83 moment. Indian players should play in Premier League, La Liga etc. Its very much essential. Because, Football is a Soft Power.

@arun10venkat if India wants to succeed as a footballing nation they will have to follow the Morocco model or build their youth academy like Korea/Japan ( which is going to take long time) or a combination of both which is more realistic and achievable.

@Shaji4Football This is the beauty of the world cup. Cape Verde take a bow . Well played. And some Europeans were crying about why its a 48 team world cup. Why couldn't Italy qualify 😂. Truth is, any team ,if they play well ,can beat any other team in the world cup.

What a historic moment! 🇨🇻 Cape Verde, the 3rd smallest nation to ever qualify for the World Cup, just held powerhouse Spain to a draw in their debut match! Despite Spain 🇪🇸 dominating with 74% possession and throwing Lamine Yamal into the mix late in the game, Cape Verde’s defensive masterclass couldn't be broken. Perfectly disciplined, incredibly brave on the ball, and completely unfazed by the giants. This isn't just a draw; it feels like a massive win. This is why we love the World Cup. Dream big, smaller nations! #FIFAWorldCup #CapeVerde #Spain #UnderdogStory

This is the magic of football, of the FIFA World Cup. Football’s strength comes from its universality. What a great debut for Cape Verde (world no. 64) against Spain (2), on the world’s biggest stage. #FIFAWorldCup2026

@IndianTechGuide When will we stop being happy by finding lineage and be actually focused on doing the takes to actually qualify for the world cup? Why are some people happy only with players with distant Indian lineage representing other countries at the world cup?
