The line on Alex Pretti isn't that it's illegal to bring a gun to a demonstration. It's not, and it shouldn't be. It's that it is reckless, irresponsible, and above all very dumb to bring a gun when you know you will be in a hostile confrontation with law enforcement.

It is a federal crime to forcibly impede or assault federal officers performing official duties. So no - the first amendment does not protect you when you do that. ICE cannot act with impunity - and neither can civilians. It’s that simple.

Yes, what happened to Alex Pretti & Renee Good was tragic. What those on the left like Harry Sisson fail to do is admit what happened to Laken Riley was also tragic. Laken Riley was a student killed by illegals. Alex & Renee were part of an organized crime group targeting ICE.

Case closed. Alex Jeffrey Pretti pushed the ICE officer (assault on a law-enforcement officer, obstruction); was pepper sprayed; resisted arrest; Pretti was armed, reached for his gun, seems to have grabbed his gun out of his holster; an ICE officer grabs his gun; gun goes off (whether by accidental discharge or not); Pretti is shot, predictably. Pretti was there to obstruct law-enforcement. He arrived at the riot armed with a scoped semi-auto 9mm. Had upwards of 50 rounds of ammo, no ID, had scrubbed his social media posts before arriving. He was there to go down in a blaze of glory.
