🇺🇸 The US has labelled 37 minerals as critical essential for EVs, defence systems, semiconductors, and clean energy. For 11 of those 37, America produces none domestically. Zero. It imports all of it. Here's where Africa fits in: • 🇬🇦 Gabon supplies 100% of US manganese imports • 🇿🇦 South Africa supplies 89% of US platinum, 79% of chromium, 57% of palladium • 35 African countries hold at least one critical mineral the US needs • The US currently sources from two of them Africa holds 30% of the world's critical mineral reserves. It captures 10% of the value. The gap between those two numbers is the entire geopolitical story.

With LIV New Orleans going away and all of the questions in the air - do we start to see LIV guys starting to play more often on the DPWT? 1) keep form 2) earn some money 3) earn R2D points in case LIV fully folds. Seems like a no brainer to me

@dirkwinterbach @JoeWest784409 LIV does well in South Africa and Australia because they hold one event a year and make it an obnoxious party. That’s all. The idea that Australian and South African LIV stans continue to believe that translates to the rest of the world is laughable.

Scott O'Neil's comments at LIV Golf Korea media day yesterday (per Maeil Business Newspaper): -expecting more than the 40,000 fans last year -5 sponsors have signed on for the event -"ratings have increased along with profits" (no details) -Operating funding through 2026 season secured "working hard to create an environment where it can grow on its own ... we are trying to grow by attracting investment and expanding profits"

Ramaphosa and Macron have a solid relationship. The G7 matter is not major as South Africa is not a member. Perhaps you could reflect on a different angle - Kenya's President snubbed South Africa's G20. He didn't attend the first G20 held on African soil. He didn't even send a deputy or a cabinet minister. Just a diplomat. In geopolitics, this is a signal. A reflection of Kenya's strategic interests and priorities. Anyone with half a brain knows why: Ruto and team were heading to the USA to be treated like children by Trump the following week. Clearly they didn't want to upset Trump by supporting South Africa's G20. He'd have cancelled them. It would be a tactical blunder for Ramaphosa to reward Kenya with his presence. He is not Ruto or Macron's junior.

🔴Diplomatic Tension Brewing as Ramaphosa Declines Nairobi Summit Attendance🔴 PRETORIA – South Africa is drawing a firm line against what it sees as the outdated practice of European nations “summoning” African leaders en masse to single-country summits, with President Cyril Ramaphosa deciding not to attend the upcoming France-Africa Summit in Nairobi next month. When you watch a match involving the Springboks or even a franchise like the Bulls, there is a certain predictability to the operation , the access, movement, timing, flow. Everything works. Yes not perfectly, but with a level of consistency that respects the paying spectator. Then comes the SOWETO Derby . Kaizer Chiefs vs Orlando Pirates and suddenly the basics are overlooked . You are bound to be subjected to congestion and all manner of frustrations that give a sense that the system is reacting rather than managing. Before anyone reaches for the usual explanations crowd size, passion, intensity nyhwe nyhwe kwatsha kwacima o kele wabona yada-yada; none of the above are new variables. They are known conditions. Which means they should be anticipated and planned for and thus not used as excuses. Why do similar venues, under the oversight of bodies like the Premier Soccer League, deliver such inconsistent experiences depending on the code being played? If one code, in this case rugby, can get the fundamentals right more often than not, then the blueprint exists. Is this a coordination failure, a standards problem, or are we simply accepting soccer fans aren’t worthy of a beautiful out of stadium user experience??
