Am I the only one kinda missing the old cel-shaded look of Marathon? Yeah, I know it looked a bit flat in some cases, and people heavily loved that cinematic trailer by Alberto Mielgo, but I think this art direction really suited the amount of graphic designs in the environments.

@HMBohemond I’m really disappointed with the follow up movies to 2014. It was more than just a monsterslop movie. The cinematography, the acting, casting, coloring, everything was so good.

Honestly, Minus One and 2014 have the best 'first atomic breath' scenes in the Godzilla franchise. The reason why isn't about power, or flashiness. It's about build up and the human reaction to it. Both movies have an in-the-trenches approach to people dealing with Godzilla for the first time. And both movies show the human reaction to Godzilla suddenly revealing his atomic breath to deal with an enemy. The different cultural approaches are also appropriate. Shikishima and crew are stunned silent. The spec ops team witnessing the event in 2014 are so surprised they stop to gawk and exclaim. It's exactly how people would react to the giant creature they're trying to deal with suddenly revealing it breathes goddamn nuclear fire as a weapon.
