I’ve read/thought a lot about Jacqueline Rose’s Mothers: An Essay on Love and Cruelty over the last two years. After a long struggle, my mother died on Friday. Here she is with my father (who died 22 years ago) and me in an extremely 70s photo a couple days my birth in 1974.
