Beautiful photo of "Casper" the Albino Risso's Dolphin taken in Monterey Bay this week. Casper was first seen in 2014 & might be the only documented true albino Risso's in the world (the two white Risso's dolphins held at the notorious Taiji Whale Museum are actually leucistic).

@matt_barnum @CEDR_US @KiraboJackson Root is Hanushek’s 1992 Trade-off Between Child Quantity and Quality. The 3x substantive interpretation comes from a 2004 Brookings paper by Hanushek and Rivkin which reports .5 vs 1.5 grade level equivalents for students taught by low- vs high-performing teachers.

I've seen this factoid about teacher quality come up before, but I've always wondered if it's true. We obviously know there's variation in teacher quality, but unclear how we get to "3x learning." Can any researchers weigh in? cc: @CEDR_US, @KiraboJackson
