@_BaconPug Yea but usually people aren't in Finland at all :) I thought that transfers through Finland weren't common
English

@Neverdisparag1n @illustrique08 ehhh alright I guess general SoL would be understandable.
I've had someone recommend me some memory palace method before but they had to nerf me with aphantasia so this shit wouldn't be too easy.
English

@empuzz @illustrique08 It takes me at worst 2 hrs to review 80 cards, reverse translation + some visualization is an efficient way to store words into your memory. You can read simple SoL vns with that vocab. I still have to mine new words, but I can make sense of the story without translating.
English

@Neverdisparag1n @illustrique08 Now the 50/100 words a day makes more sense, you'd end up at hours and hours of reviewing cards if you were doing anki normally. Also what kind of visual novel is there that you can supposedly comfortably read at just 5000 words?
English

@empuzz @illustrique08 I don't use Anki the way everyone else does, for me it's just a tool I need to paste into my review text file before going through each word via reverse translation. If I can recognize a word I just skip it obviously.
English

@Neverdisparag1n @illustrique08 Almost at the same point as me but in 3 months instead of 20, my feeble mind started getting burnout on 20 cards a day... What's your retention at on anki?
English

@illustrique08 You just have to learn 50 words on weekdays and 100 on weekends without taking a break ever. If I didn't even have an online job I would go for 100 every day. Some guy on reddit claimed he did it by learning 100 words a day for 6 months straight.
English

@YoRHa2Pee Group projects are hell, are you people here to learn or is your sole goal just to pass this course? No shame either, they don't even delete the comments that the LLM places everywhere
English

@nugwisomkami Do you experience memories as images (wouldn't this just be photographic memory?) or do you form images in your mind based on your memories? I have aphantasia so idk, but I feel like this just correlates more with general memory rather than visualization ability
English

one time one of my irls said that he can't remember anything without pictures to look back at. my theory is that overzealous casual photography is correlated with performance on the apple test but i've never been able to find a chance to bring it up and see where he is

Have you tried living in the moment?

@kaialone02 @SocTransitLover Layering absolutely does work, you just have to adjust the amount of layers based on the level of activity you do to avoid sweating
English

@SocTransitLover Layering up doesnt even work
you just end up sweating under there, then the sweat cools down, and then the cold zaps your body heat even faster
not to mention you could literally get a heart attack
English

Anybody who has experienced real winter knows that if you layer up, -30 is fine
brandon@SiNuTrmon
I’ll say it a million times if i have to but nobody who believes this has experienced real winter
English

@Molycuddle Most of the disagreements here over what is hot and what isn't is just because of humidity, which varies a ton by location. 30C at low humidity is completely different to 30C at high humidity

English

For the Yanks out there
-30 is insanely cold?!
+30 is a really nice summers day but you don’t want the temp to go much higher

I love how this has become such a widespread image. I was mindblown when I first made the connection that the original image is from a Finnish documentary that I had watched😭

This is unironically how it feels playing VNs
