My heart is breaking -- Nick (@nickpopemod) passed away this afternoon at our home. The last few weeks of his life, even as he suffered, he managed to do a few interviews from home. I was so lucky to have met and to have married Nick. He was a wonderful husband. I loved him dearly.

Still in disbelief that this happened to me in #Balham yesterday. I was walking alone with my ear pods in & stopped as I thought he was asking for directions. Instead it was racist abuse. Filmed a few seconds of it. Have reported to @metpoliceuk & am giving a statement next week

@TheGriftReport Might be the case - I’ve lost a fair bit in last year ( well 2 and a half stone) without WLI , takes a lot of will power and consistency though , as I always put weight on holiday and then take3 weeks to get rid of it . It is doable, all WLI really do is cut appetite a lot .

This Morning star Alison Hammond has dropped a staggering 11 stone, going from 30 stone at her heaviest.
The secret? She ditched her “childish mentality” around food after a pre-diabetes scare (her mum had Type 2).
Her favourite treat, toffees, is now limited to just a couple a day. Sweets and fatty foods are gone.
She’s had a personal trainer for five years, does Reformer Pilates and boxing, and now eats everything in moderation.
She claims it was NOT weight-loss jabs.

@esotericvicky @adamscochran That's not really where we pick Presidents from historically. Dating back to 1960 only two US Presidents had their immediate previous occupation be Congressman: JFK and Obama.

Is the current Dem leadership useless? Yes.
But American voters, both MAGA, third-party and those who sat out, gave MAGA Republicans the govnerment trifecta.
Executive, both houses of Congress and the SCOTUS.
Dems have zero legal recourse.
Other than rallying displays, which would be nice, what can we ask of them here?
They need Republican votes.

@esotericvicky @adamscochran We've yearned that for *decades.* Problem is a *lot* of the elected Dems are really Republican-lite. Bought off by the same lobbies, have many of the same beliefs, and "opposition" is token at best. For every AOC, there's 5 John Fetterman's. Our system is fundamentally broken

@esotericvicky @adamscochran When one party is in power, there is the minority leader. It's the closest we have to an opposition leader. But unlike with you guys, here it's merely ceremonial. No real power. In the House, it's Hakeem Jeffries, who's useless. In the Senate, Chuck Schumer- worse than useless.

Christie: I think anyone that follows politics can tell there are no principles left in my party. Even for people who agree with some of the stuff the president is doing, if you are honest with yourself, you know it is not based on principle. He wakes up every morning and tries to figure out, what is the best thing for him to do in his self interest that day.
But the real lack of principle is on display every day in the House and Senate. These people have become lemmings.

@realBenBloch Worth noting that the UK actually arrest it's citizens for tweeting things the UK government doesn't like. The US is monitoring those seeking student VISA's etc in order to keep out extremists radicals who shout "death to America", death to Jews, call for global violence, etc.

If you're actual takeaway is that Trump is going to commit nuclear genocide against the Iranian people, well, you're a moron.
You can disagree with the post, in fact the first line and the last line of the post are antithetical towards each other, so that's a valid criticism.

It’s time to lick our wounds caused by Trump’s betrayal, realize we got the leader we deserved instead of the one we needed, and move on from him. He has more than adequately shown who he really is. Any denial is simply a refusal to let go of who we wanted him to be. This happens all the time in relationships. It shouldn’t with our politicians
Now, it’s time to improve ourselves as a society and go and get the leaders we really need
