Both volunteer fire and rescue squads have been responding to numerous calls for people slipping on the ice and injuring themselves over the past few days. Just because the sun is out, this ice is being stubborn and is not going anywhere anytime soon, so please use caution!

Here are some key phone numbers to keep in mind. Please remember if you do lose power, it's important for everyone to report the outage to Dominion Energy. Don't assume your neighbor has reported it. Also, please save 911 for true emergencies.

Official correspondence from Gloucester County, VA will only come from a gloucesterva.info or gloucesterva.gov domain address. Gloucester County, VA also does not issue unsolicited wire transfer requests to citizens.

There is an ongoing nationwide scam where scammers pose as a legitimate local government organization by using familiar logos and a usa.com domain address with the goal being to extract funds for fake permit fees, primarily via wire transfer.

Due to the deteriorating weather conditions, County offices will close at 2 PM today. County offices will also be operating on a 2-hour delay tomorrow (Tuesday, Dec. 9) as temperatures are expected to drop well below freezing tonight causing slick roadways tomorrow morning.
