The thing about Hasan Piker is that he's not saying anything crazy. It's the same thing so many of us have been saying for decades. What bothers establishment Democrats is that he has reach, and it's growing (thanks in large part to the party trying to defame him).
Marco Foster@MarcoFoster_

Hasan Piker: “My goal is to instill class consciousness in people and help them identify who is actually causing harm to them and in my assessment it’s the billionaires and the corporations not the vulnerable populations. It’s not a trans person or a Guatemalan migrant that’s raising your rent, it’s your landlord”

I’m old enough to remember when attacking the Pope would hurt your polling with US evangelicals. But since they stuck with Trump through the lies, rapes, child rapes, adultery, fraud and wars — I guess it’s safe to say that who those US evangelicals worship isn’t Christ.

💢 U.S. Military Kills Five People in Strikes on Two Vessels in the Eastern Pacific U.S. Southern Command said it conducted two strikes on April 11 against vessels it claimed were operated by designated cartel organizations along “narco-trafficking routes” in the Eastern Pacific. Two people were killed in the first strike, three in the second. The U.S. military identified those killed as “narco-terrorists” — a designation that carries no standing under international law and that critics say is being used to justify extrajudicial killings in international waters without trial, charge, or judicial oversight. No evidence has been made public to support the targeting decisions. The strikes are part of Operation Southern Spear, the Trump administration’s military campaign that has carried out multiple lethal maritime operations since launching this year.
U.S. Southern Command@Southcom

Applying total systemic friction on the cartels. On April 11, at the direction of #SOUTHCOM commander Gen. Francis L. Donovan, Joint Task Force Southern Spear conducted two lethal kinetic strikes on two vessels operated by Designated Terrorist Organizations. Intelligence confirmed the vessels were transiting along known narco-trafficking routes in the Eastern Pacific and were engaged in narco-trafficking operations. Two male narco-terrorists were killed, and one narco-terrorist survived the first strike. Three male narco-terrorists were killed during the second strike. Following the engagements, USSOUTHCOM immediately notified U.S. Coast Guard to activate the Search and Rescue system for the survivor. No U.S. military forces were harmed. @DeptofWar #OpSouthernSpear

This tweet reveals that Neera's definition of "the Democratic party" is just the apparatus of consultants, donors, and political elites she belongs to. She's correct, in that sense: The Bush-era neocons trying to take over the Democratic Party via their rebrand as "Never-Trumpers" are definitely nicer to the ultrawealthy and well-connected than Hasan is. That's because, like her, they see politics as an intellectual exercise and vehicle for personal elevation.
Neera Tanden🌻@neeratanden

The Never-Trumpers treat the Democratic party a lot better than Piker does.

As the USA spends trillions arming Israel and fighting illegal wars for it... Here's Kentucky, where patients who could not pay their medical bills are abandoned and left out on the street in front of the hospital...

Hasan Piker: “I hate Republicans. The Republicans are far more damaging. The biggest terrorist internationally is the Republican party. I want to fight against the growing fascist movement in this country. My frustration with the Democrats is their conciliatory attitude towards that. You say Donald Trump is a dangerous force, but then you turn around and take on his anti-immigrant narratives from 2020”

Coal ash contains mercury, arsenic, cadmium, and chromium. Those are not abstract pollutants. They are linked to cancer. Workers who cleaned up the 2008 Tennessee coal ash dike failure - 300 acres of spill - said their exposure caused cancer. In 2014, tens of thousands of tons poured into North Carolina's Dan River. Those disasters are why the EPA started regulating coal ash in the first place. On Thursday, the EPA proposed rolling back groundwater monitoring standards near coal ash sites and eliminating requirements that companies clean up entire coal properties rather than just the specific dump zones. The proposal also grants states the power to hand out exemptions from national standards. The coal industry asked Lee Zeldin for these changes in January 2025, weeks after Trump took office. Zeldin's word for the rollback: "commonsense." The Southern Environmental Law Center's word: "opening the door to leaving ash in groundwater." EPA's own February rule extended the deadlines for legacy coal ash site cleanups by 33 months and pushed groundwater monitoring requirements back three years. The agency's own filing acknowledged the delay "may increase health risks for children and other populations." Indiana has coal ash sites. AES Indiana operates along waterways in this state. "Unique circumstances at certain facilities" is the phrase Zeldin used to justify state exemptions. That language is a permission slip, not a protection.

Citizens United changed America and is one of the most unpopular court decisions in history - and yet most don't know the secret story behind the case, and how it was engineered. We expose it here - pass it on.

Congress, of which 505/538 (94%) have accepted a pro-Israel campaign contribution, is spending your taxpayer dollars (+ $2 billion a day in Iran) to facilitate circumstances like this in Gaza and Southern Lebanon. These are human lives. All of them.

Epstein Survivor Juliette Bryant just released a message to Melania Trump: “Hello Melania Trump. My name is Juliette Bryant. I’m an Epstein survivor. You want girls to testify under oath, well here I am testifying that everything I said is true. Unfortunately a lot of the girls who testified died. Maybe it’s time that you and your husband testify too.”

You voted for more of Trump’s nominees than 90% of your Senate Democratic colleagues. You voted for literal fascists like Kristi Noem. It’s bonkers to think you can claim the “fighter” lane!

“I have never in my quarter of a century in journalism seen a greater effort to criminalize and demonize speaking to people on the other side of America’s wars.” —Drop Site’s @JeremyScahill spoke to Progressive International’s @VarshaGandikota about Drop Site News being labeled “pro-terrorism” for interviewing Palestinian and Iranian figures. He said that in any society that professes to be democratic, a public has the right to understand the other side of things.
