This is Stephen Baillie. The East Renfrewshire priest has been found guilty of sexually assaulting a man at a Clarkston church after a night out. He was today convicted by a jury of sexually assaulting a man at St Joseph’s Church in Clarkston between June 27 and 28, 2024, while his victim was “heavily intoxicated and unable to consent”, following a trial at Paisley Sheriff Court. The court heard harrowing evidence of how Baillie repeatedly sexually assaulted the man after a “business dinner”, leaving the victim and his partner needing therapy and struggling with the impact of the “traumatising” ordeal. ​ Baillie, who has been a priest for 36 years serving parishes in Greenock, Paisley, Clarkston and Eaglesham, denied the charge but was found guilty and placed on the sex offenders register. @ACSPARTAN1 always on top of these stories and more to come.
