IPSWICH COUPLE JAILED FOR HISTORIC CHILD SEX OFFENCES A couple from Ipswich have been jailed for sex offences against children, described by a judge as taking “cruelty to a level of unimaginable, terrifying horror”. Brian Callaghan, 79, of Waterford Road, was jailed for 24 years for a variety of offences including rape. Diane Foster, 56, of Downside Close, was jailed for 11 years for offences including aiding and abetting rape. Ipswich Crown Court heard the offences took place between 1974 and 1991 Callaghan’s crimes were committed in Preston, Lancashire, and later in Ipswich and included the rape of children of primary school age. He pleaded guilty to a total of 19 offences, which took place over 17 years. The court heard he left Preston for Ipswich and met Foster while working as a door-to-door salesman. During her trial last month, Foster was found guilty of three offences, carried out alongside Callaghan, which took place on one night in the 1980s. Judge Rupert Overbury told Callaghan: “You are a perverted sexual predator who enjoyed [abusing children] in a multitude of ways and to a number of degrading levels … no doubt to satisfy your degenerate sexual fantasies.” He said the victims were haunted by the memories, had suffered psychologically and had received professional help to deal with “ongoing trauma”. Foster was described as a “willing participant” in Callaghan’s activities in Ipswich. The judge said: “You are a cold-hearted woman, lacking any moral fibre and displaying no remorse for those children you were content to abuse so cruelly.” Det Ch Insp Tonya Antonis, from Suffolk Police, said: “The crimes committed by both Callaghan and Foster were abhorrent. “We wonder if they have ever stopped to think about the damage they have done to the children while they sought sexual gratification or how their lives will probably be scarred forever.”

Nicola Sturgeon passed her driving test aged 53. Her schedule and work life had stood in the way of her doing something as normal as learning to drive. Is it really THAT unimaginable that her and her husband had become so distant and estranged that they didn’t “socialise” or go on holiday? If you ask me, this is a tragic state of affairs.

The party money was stolen. Not tax payer public funds. Party money. SNP members are the victim of this fraud, but at the heart of the story is a woman who was possibly living in a challenging, and potentially dysfunctional marriage, who was betrayed.

The former first minister was given the opportunity to meet me in 2020 when I exposed the child exploitation in her then constituency. She was not interested. She knew and did nothing. This is fact. If a first minister doesn’t care about kids then they won’t care about you.

A pervert who admitted an “unnatural connection” with horses as part of an animal sex abuse ring avoided jail yesterday — because of his age. Joshua Lee-Paterson, 20, was let off with 225 hours’ unpaid work despite admitting bestiality at a farm in Cothal, Aberdeenshire. Law chief Phillip Mann said the fiend, of nearby Balmedie, was spared because he was just 17 at the time of the three-month abuse. But depraved pal Jordan Turnbull, 28, was sentenced to seven months after admitting intimate relations with two Shetland ponies. Mark Findlater, 34, got 13 months after he pled guilty to sharing pics of the vile attacks with the public. Passing sentence at Aberdeen Sheriff Court, he said: “This is offending which society will find very offensive and disturbing.” We told how the warped pals were snared after a tip-off sparked an undercover investigation by cops and the Scottish SPCA. Turnbull and Lee-Paterson later admitted having an “unnatural connection” with the animals. The court heard Shetland ponies Jack and Ruby had belonged to Findlater, of Kirriemuir, Angus. He agreed a deal to sell the animals and rural plot to Lee-Paterson, who stayed in a caravan while he paid back in instalments. The court heard Findlater was in a relationship with Turnbull and Lee-Paterson at different times. Both men blamed him, claiming he controlled and manipulated them into attacking the horses. Lee-Paterson said he was trying to protect the animals, who were abused in a small wooden stable between October and December 2018. Prosecutor Colin Neilson told the court: “He said that Findlater had threatened to harm the horses if he didn’t carry out the acts.” All of the depraved incidents were captured on a mobile phone. Findlater, who has a past conviction over bestiality snaps, insisted he had not witnessed the sickening attacks and received the images on social media. But Sheriff Mann told him: “You sent this obscene material to members of the public who shouldn’t have been subjected to such disgusting images. That’s very serious indeed.” Lee-Paterson’s lawyer Stuart Murray revealed his client had been dumped by his fiancee over the past few weeks. Turnbull, from Galashiels, Selkirkshire, had claimed his business would collapse if he went to jail — putting four jobs at risk. His lawyer Matthew Patrick added: “There is no getting away from the fact this is seriously bizarre behaviour.” Turnbull and Lee-Paterson, who fled court with a newspaper covering his face, were both put on the sex offenders register.

Another judge suggesting sex offenders can be rehabilitated. Where are they getting this info I cannot find it anywhere ????? A man who sent indecent videos and photographs of himself to a 10‑year‑old girl on Instagram avoided an immediate prison sentence after a judge ruled that intensive intervention would offer greater long‑term protection to the public. Zackary Kirkwood, 23, from Kirkdale, contacted the child using a false name and claiming to be 14. Liverpool Crown Court heard that he sent her multiple videos and still images of himself performing a sexual act, despite knowing her true age. Prosecutor David Polglase said Kirkwood also tried to persuade the girl to send images of herself, but she refused. The offending came to light when the girl’s father discovered what had been happening. Shocked by the messages, he created a separate Instagram account and pretended to be his daughter. Kirkwood, unaware of the ruse, sent further sexual images and videos. Police were informed and he was arrested the following February. Kirkwood admitted two offences of causing a child to watch a sexual act and two counts of attempting to engage in sexual activity in the presence of a child. He denied having a sexual interest in children, but the court heard that professional assessments concluded he posed a high risk of harm to young people unless his behaviour was addressed. Recorder Gary Woodall said that although the offences were serious, a structured programme of rehabilitation offered the best chance of preventing further harm. He sentenced Kirkwood to 18 months in prison, suspended for two years, and ordered him to complete an intensive sex‑offender treatment programme. Kirkwood must also carry out 180 hours of unpaid work and will remain on the Sex Offenders Register for 10 years. A Sexual Harm Prevention Order was imposed for seven years. The judge noted the impact on the young victim, saying she had become withdrawn since the incident, while her father’s understandable anxiety had caused tension within the family. The court heard that the original images had been deleted, but the father’s intervention on August 22, 2016 led to Kirkwood sending at least two more videos and two still images, again claiming to be 15. He was arrested shortly afterwards and later admitted sending the material.

WITCHES ABUSE AND MURDER: THE PAGAN PAEDOPHILE RING THAT SHOCKED CORNWALL The Cornwall paedophile ring exposed in 2012 remains one of the most disturbing criminal cases ever heard at Truro Crown Court. The investigation uncovered decades of ritualistic sexual abuse carried out by a small group of men who blended pagan imagery, witchcraft symbolism and threats of violence to terrorise young girls. The case resurfaced publicly in 2019, prompting renewed questions about whether the surviving offenders may now be eligible for parole. Two central figures, Jack Kemp and Peter Petrauske, were convicted in December 2012 after a three‑week trial. Both men denied wrongdoing, insisting they were victims of a “witch‑hunt”, but a jury found them guilty of multiple offences dating back to the 1970s. Kemp received a 14‑year sentence, while Petrauske was jailed for 18 years. Judge Graham Cottle described the crimes as ranging from “extremely serious to truly horrifying”. The court heard that Petrauske styled himself as the “high priest” of a witches’ coven in St Ives, where ceremonies were used as a cover for sexual assaults. Kemp was said to have filmed some of the abuse. Victims, some believed to be as young as three, gave evidence from behind screens, describing how they were assaulted and then bribed with sweets and money to keep silent. The trial also revived scrutiny of two other men linked to the group. One was Peter Solheim, a former parish councillor and pagan enthusiast whose mutilated body was found floating off the Lizard in 2004. Although Solheim was never charged with sexual offences, witnesses during the 2012 trial named him as part of the same circle of abusers. His partner, Margaret James, was convicted in 2006 of conspiracy to murder him, but the full circumstances of his death remain unresolved. Police have repeatedly stated that the investigation into his killing has never been closed. Another figure, Stanley Pirie, had already been jailed in 2005 for a series of sexual offences. He died in prison, but his victims later testified about abuse they also suffered at the hands of Kemp and Petrauske. The 2012 convictions brought a measure of closure for survivors, but the long‑term impact of the crimes was made clear in court. Judge Cottle said the psychological scars were so deep that recovery seemed unlikely. The case also highlighted the difficulty of investigating historic abuse, particularly when offenders operate within insular or fringe communities. As of 2026, the question of parole eligibility has resurfaced. Kemp’s 14‑year term and Petrauske’s 18‑year term both began in late 2012. Under standard sentencing rules, prisoners serving determinate sentences may be considered for release after serving half their term, subject to risk assessments. However, the severity of the offences, the ritualistic nature of the abuse and the long‑term harm to victims mean that any release decision would depend on detailed evaluations by the Parole Board. No public statements have been issued confirming whether either man has been released or is currently under review. The Solheim murder investigation also remains open. Detectives have said that any new information will be assessed, and that the identities of others involved in the killing have never been established. The Cornwall case continues to stand as a stark reminder of how small, secretive groups can operate undetected for years, and how survivors often carry the consequences long after convictions are secured.
