The cyber cell traced the money across two banks - and told him he should get it back soon. All it will cost him is a lawyer’s consultation of Rs 5,000. Let me tell you what happens with PSU banks. Say a rich person from rural Karnataka (you can use any other language to describe) has 25 lakhs to deposit but speaks only Kannada. The trainee bank officer in SBI would let go the opportunity as he does not want to speak/ learn even a few words of Kannada. The guy just wants to spend two years in his posting in Karnataka before moving to his next posting. A private bank officer is more likely to chase the guy, seet a connect by talking in Kannada (even learning a bit of it if not his mother tongue) and get the money deposited as FDs/ insurance products, though the rich Kannada guy trusts SBI more the pvt bank. But a bank babu from other state unwilling to work hard may squander the opportunity. That is the reason holding back PSU banks and the rise of HDFC/ ICICI/ Axis banks.
