Christianity began at Pentecost of 33CE when a congregation of 120 of Jesus disciples and Apostles were gathered in an upper room and Holy Spirit descended upon them appearing as tongues of fire. A short time later, the Apostle Peter was lead to the house of a Roman Army officer named Cornelius where the same thing happened. As witness to this and for other reasons, Peter understood clearly that salvation and God's favor was open to all nations and races of people. There was no longer any special favor of the Jew over the Gentile.
