🚨 Update on the Universal Ostrich Farm Presentation 🚨 Yesterday, October 8th, I presented to the Brazeau County Agricultural Services Board about the CFIA’s order to cull the flock at the Universal Ostrich Farm in Edgewood, BC. I shared the story, the science, and the serious concerns about CFIA’s unchecked discretion and the damage it is doing to trust in farming communities. The Result The Board unanimously carried a motion directing Administration to draft a letter to CFIA President Paul McKinnon, urging the CFIA to reconsider the cull order and allow the ostriches to be re-tested by a third party. The letter will also be copied to: - All other Alberta municipal Agricultural Service Boards - Prime Minister Mark Carney - Federal Minister of Agriculture & Agri-Food Heath MacDonald - Premier Danielle Smith - The Provincial Agriculture Minister RJ Sigurdson - MP Dane Lloyd - MLA Andrew Boitchenko Note: This letter is currently in draft and will be finalized, signed, and delivered on or before October 17, 2025. This is a clear signal that local leaders are listening and that Alberta farmers are concerned about how the CFIA is exercising its powers.
