The ostriches at Universal Ostrich Farm had been disease-free for nearly 300 days, and the government’s own website states avian flu is typically contagious for about 14 days. So people asked the obvious question: Why are we killing healthy animals nearly a year later? That isn’t hate. That isn’t extremism. That’s common sense. The CFIA is a public agency, funded by taxpayers. When thousands of Canadians raise concerns about logic, science, and animal welfare, the response should be transparency and dialogue not silence or smear. Threats are never acceptable. But questioning government decisions is not a threat. Wanting accountability and proportionality is not wrongdoing. Institutions don’t lose credibility when people ask questions. They lose it when they refuse to listen.
