.@nuntiatoria . I have never once watched ‘The Vicar of Dibley’ . But I have been struck by the quality of some women in the clergy, and tend to think that the place in scripture given to Mary, to Martha and especially to Mary Magdalene overcomes any doctrinal

It's fair to say that some Christians have distorted their beliefs and it has had murderous results.
But "No one kills with more passion than someone who believes that God is on their side" is, historically speaking, ridiculous.
What's more accurate, after the enlightenment, and after the possibility of industrialized murder was invented, is more aligned with Dostoyevsky's idea — "without God, everything is permitted." And that has been the case.
