Unfortunately British politics and media is dominated by cowards and followers who have gone along with the Keynsian status quo. They promoted the fake narrative about "austerity" and the 2022 LDI crisis. There was little to no critical analysis of the Net Zero craze or the Bank of England's currency debasement. We are in deep trouble and the starting point is people understanding why.

We are in deep trouble and the starting point is people understanding why.

Half of British voters now think we are as rich or richer than Australia, Singapore, Germany, Switzerland and the US. These spectacular levels of delusion have real world effects. They make people think we can afford ever-growing public expenditure and "freebies".

Lord Robertson is a good man that has been passionate about defence spending and Nato all through his political career. He struck with the Labour right wing when it was neither fashionable nor a good career move. Naturally Labour right wingers have gravitated towards the defence portfolios down the years, and Robertson is a premier example. So when he says “We cannot defend Britain with an ever-expanding welfare budget,” he is bringing his politics, as well as his expertise, to the debate. He is not beyond challenge. Nor would he expect to be.
