On the air the night of the DCA crash, I said I was sure it would trigger major changes in aviation. 13 months on, that still hasn't happened. The families of the 67 dead are gutted after the House failed to pass the ROTOR Act. cnn.com/2026/02/24/us/…

The two most important books written on the political economy of New York remain @profplotch on the Tappan Zee and SAS. They offered intimate portraits of Cuomo operating, but also the dysfunction of NYS. Federalizing Gateway and allowing Byford to operate is a good decision.

Here's @profplotch arguing that for all its flaws, the MTA's current governance model actually makes sense. vitalcitynyc.org/articles/hate-… "If the subways could not tap into the tax revenue from wealthy suburban residents or the toll revenue generated by the city’s bridges and tunnels, they would face an immediate and insurmountable financial crisis."
Ethan Stark-Miller@Estarkmiller

.@andrewcuomo repeats that he would propose the city takes over the management of the MTA, which is run by the state. "The MTA is too big to be able to manage the transit authority, effectively, let the mayor, manage the New York City Transit Authority," he says.
