TODAY: Somaliland Government Teases Major Announcement The Government of the Republic of Somaliland has shared a cryptic message with the public today, simply stating: “Big News is Coming.” Speculation is already building. The president and senior cabinet members remain out of public view during an ongoing trip, drawing comparisons to President Cirro’s summer 2025 visit to the United Arab Emirates a trip that was publicly known at the time, but later revealed to have included a quiet visit to Israel. With limited details available, attention is now turning to what may be unfolding behind the scenes. Bring another one home Mr President! Sleepless nights ahead for the enemies of the blessed Republic.

BREAKING 🚨: Two Countries Set to Recognize Republic of Somaliland in May Credible reports indicate that two countries are preparing to formally recognize the Republic of Somaliland in the month of May, marking a potentially historic diplomatic shift. Sources suggest that Greece is among the states expected to move forward, while the second country remains an unidentified African nation. No official announcements have yet been made. According to officials familiar with the matter, both countries have already held discussions and are said to have agreed to extend formal diplomatic recognition. Current talks are reportedly focused on determining the most strategic timing for a coordinated announcement. Further reports link the recent unscheduled trip to the United Arab Emirates by the Somaliland president and senior cabinet members to these developments, suggesting the visit was part of broader diplomatic efforts tied to the anticipated recognitions. While governments involved have not publicly confirmed these claims, the situation remains fluid and closely watched.

Where is Cirro? Nobody knows. What is he doing? He is negotiating security guarantees for Somaliland against the concession of an aero-naval base near Berbera. The Israelis are worried that such a move will involve them in a conflict with Turkiye.

🚨 Intel Update: Since I reported a week ago about the drop in U.S. drone operations in southern Somalia due to fuel shortages and deprioritization of counterterrorism operations (military intel sources): 1- Al-Shabaab killed and captured several SNA soldiers and looted bases in Janale and Mubarak areas of Lower Shabelle region. 2- Al-Shabaab carried out a sustained operation in Baidoa lasting hours, causing destruction and reportedly encircling the city. These developments are exacerbated by SNA units opposed to Hassan Sheikh’s expected term extension withdrawing from Lower Shabelle frontlines—around 3,000 troops aligned with opposition have left the area. Additionally, Al-Qaeda gains in Mali are seen as a motivating factor for Al-Shabaab’s renewed push toward Mogadishu, reflected in their media referencing external analysis including @TheSoufanCenter.

INTEL BRIEF – SCOOP Military intelligence sources in Somalia report, via an informant in Al-Shabaab-held Jilib, a noticeable drop in U.S. drone surveillance. A source stated: “We used to be monitored every night by US drones-now they’re gone, possibly due to the Iran conflict.” If true, reduced drone coverage could give Al-Shabaab more freedom to operate and expand. For context, a single MQ-9 Reaper surveillance/strike mission can consume roughly 36–60 barrels of fuel, meaning sustained drone presence depends heavily on logistics and operational prioritization. At the same time, Somalia’s election crisis is weakening the Somali National Army, with some opposition-aligned troops reportedly leaving frontlines. These combined factors could enable Al-Shabaab to regain territory.

🛑 JUST IN: Egypt and Saudi are threatening to take Israel and Somaliland to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) to seek an advisory opinion regarding Israel’s re-recognition of Somaliland. I would support them in actually doing this & bringing the case to the ICJ 👍🏾🫡🤣

Suspected pirates have hijacked two ships off the eastern coast of Somalia, according to the UK’s Maritime Trade Operations. And there was an attempted hijacking in the same place last week. Maritime security has now increased the threat level to “substantial” and has warned vessels to “transit with caution.” Piracy around the Horn of Africa has declined in recent years - but many of the root causes of piracy have not changed. It was a huge issue from around 2005 to 2018, with some tankers and crew members being held hostage for ransom payments. This resurgence comes at a time where shipping is already under threat due to closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
