This is a welcome development that the “PANORMITIS” vessel, which is illegally transporting grain from Ukraine’s temporarily occupied territories, will not be unloading in Israel. This demonstrates that Ukraine’s legal and diplomatic actions have been effective. This is also a clear signal to all other vessels, captains, operators, insurers, and governments: do not buy stolen Ukrainian grain. Do not become part of this crime. We continue to track this particular vessel and warn everyone against any operations with it. We will also continue to ramp up international sanctions measures against Russia’s shadow grain fleet.

With all due respect, Your Excellency, we expect action, namely for the State of Israel to stop accepting grain stolen from Ukraine’s temporarily occupied territories. When such action is taken, we will be most happy to receive relevant messages via X (former Twitter), WhatsApp, Signal, email, paper post, or any other channel of Your Excellency’s convenience.

Israelis and Jews everywhere had this fantasy that they can be nice to Ukraine and Ukrainians will be nice back. We always have this fantasy; it’s time to learn. Plus, Ukrainian history of genocidal Jew-hate remains unmatched.

Zelensky's beef is wrong as a matter of international law. In cases of territorial disputes, or even clear belligerent occupation, there is no requirement on third countries to boycott goods from the occupied territory. Thus the EU imports tomatoes from Western Sahara & cheese from Northern Cyprus. Many countries have imported phosphates from W.Sahara. Israel certainly has no duty to make inquiries into the political status of goods imported in its ports.

We did, in fact, call Egypt out and their response wasn't "lol, go fuck yourselves and shut up about it"... Imagine that 🙃

Most of y’all will be mad at me, but I’m gonna say it anyways: We’re a strong, resilient people. But we are also a reactive & deeply insecure nation. Our responses to the Ukrainian grain incident, and plenty since October 7, haven’t been grounded in clear judgment, but as emotional reactions. “Ukraine votes against us at the UN” “Ukraine has a dark history with Jews” “Ukraine has neo-Nazi problems” That might be true. But none of it is relevant to why we purchased the stolen grains from Russian hands & what should we do next. These aren’t logical, calculated responses. They are emotional outbursts. Too often we react like we’ve been stepped on - sharp, loud, defensive. Sometimes we’re right, sometimes not. But it ain’t matter. Because these are signs of insecurity. And sure, it’s understandable. After October 7, with the feeling the world’s abandoned or even targeting us, people get aggressively defensive. But we can’t build a future on victim mentality & resentment. They never lead men no where. It only pushes away friends, and plays right into the hands of people who want to see us isolated. The Jewish People’s existence is far more than a reaction to the world. We are a proud, confident People, living in our independent country. Act like it, not with emotion, but with clarity, with wisdom, and with steady hands.
