NEW COLUMN: A judge just called out the Liberals’ immigration failure   For years, non-citizens have received lighter sentences than Canadians for identical crimes because of potential deportation consequences.   An Ontario judge just flipped the script.   Manjeet Singh, a repeat offender, has had a removal order hanging over him since 2022. While in custody, the CBSA knew exactly where he was. But they never acted.   So Justice Wendl refused to play along. If deportation is a fantasy, why sentence with it in mind? He quadrupled the proposed sentence to 12 months.   Mark Carney’s Liberals say the immigration mess they created is under control.
