@Doombeetle 1. ship Zink dll's and make it use zink upon startup (by setting some environment variable) and 2. get rid of bindless textures I'm not sure this is of any relevance if you're not using opengl
English

@shingpapi When you have some time I would love to know how you solved it! I don't think I'm going to try my hand at doing a custom engine like you are but I am fiddling with game dev on the side
English

@Doombeetle Chose to tackle it now I think I figured out a solution, was afraid it was gonna be a week's worth of work but looks like it's just one (very long day)'s worth
English

@shingpapi Ah that would complicate things. Your work is so impressive, it would be a shame for someone to not be able to experience it. Either way, it is a problem you can always choose to tackle later
English

@John84421387 technically I am one since I just got this new (old by today's standard) radeon..
English

@shingpapi Radeon users don’t deserve rights, this is valid
English

@Doombeetle Hmm, not sure how that'd work with all the shaders I got going on
English

@shingpapi CPU rendering is an option! It may not got 60 fps, but doing a check for incompatible graphics cards on boot would at least get the game running on bad machines
English

@cybereality wish I got this AMD computer earlier, for the longest time I thought the AMD driver on steam deck is similar.
I have heard that the nvidia drivers are a lot more lenient though, so maybe developing on AMD first would have been better
English

@shingpapi granted, there are issues. my app was crashing too when i ported to windows amd. but the issue more was about having it working on nvidia first, and then testing amd. if you develop on amd, and then test nvidia, it can be the same situation (e.g. drivers are different)
English

@cybereality I hope so, because that means it'll eventually be solvable on my end. Having said that, this kind of thing showing up when I try to debug it is really scaring me away from their OpenGL (windows) drivers for now

English

@shingpapi i mean, i've had problems all over in general, but i'd be willing to bet $100 it's not AMD's fault
English

@NC_KuroRaiden fortunately Zink (that translates thing to Vulkan) seem to work, might just have to ship with these for AMD users
English

@tensecaterpie old legacy reasons. I've been doing opengl for 2 decades now. go with vulkan if you're starting IMO, but take my advice with a grain of salt
English

@KoltPenny some ryzen (can't remember doubt that makes a difference) but the GPU is 7600XT or something. Tried to find something old enough for testing yet new enough I can buy immediately, was $1500
English

@cybereality Renderdoc crashed unfortunately. In the case of AMD drivers I doubt it's something simple. At any rate, I gave up with their stuff and plan to ship with Zink drivers, seem to be able to get 90% of the way there and at least it doesn't crash
English

@shingpapi it's usually something simple. just use a debugger like renderdoc or nsight
English

@cybereality unfortunately being exposed to nvidia since forever has gotten me in this state. anyway, looks like Zink is a good solution so far, the driver at the very least does not crash
English

@shingpapi I've found the same thing. However, in my experience AMD follows the spec very closely, while Nvidia often breaks the rules, in order that things that shouldn't work still work. Meaning it working in the first place on Nvidia is the bug, not the other way around.
English

@higihigster 15-20% apparently. I cared enough to buy a whole new radeon PC, but when issues like this arise I'm not 100% sure I can ever get it working
English

@carlicy15 Pirated a bunch of latin music around two decades ago (fabiana cantilo's album, belanova etc) and from that point I started listening to random ones from time to time. Can't remember how I got introduced to la flaca though, might be yt algo since this one is recent for me
English

@shingpapi Well, I was saying this because I found it interesting that someone from the other world listens to those songs; almost everyone in Latin America listens to that song.
English

@shingpapi Hahaha, what a random song, it has nothing to do with the post.
