How NOT train young athletes: Mindless sprint drills trying to chase some mystical perfect technical model... How to train young athletes: Games, Tag and it's variations...sprint, stop, start, turn, evade, dodge, close space, create space, make decisions and most importantly have fun! If you want to learn how train young athletes to improve skills, have fun and will enjoy training for years down the road, DM me for details on youth athletic development programs and courses. #LTAD

How the Pathway Model is Killing Sport If you're looking for a reason for the problems that sports are experiencing, look no further than the pathway model. The pathway model is something that most sporting systems have embraced around the world. It basically says: let's get kids in the door - get them onto a court or onto a field or into a pool, and from the moment they start there, let's put them on this imaginary linear pathway to take them from that beginning point, maybe at five six seven eight years of age, through to Olympic glory. But very very few people actually want to play at professional level, they just want to play with their mates and have fun. The key is to abandon the pathway model and just make sport a wonderful experience for everybody who turns up. If they learn to love the sport and if they fall in love with the sport, if they've got any talent at all it'll shine through, and they'll become extraordinary.
