@mitch23bates @kangamerchant It doesn't have to be one or the other, they can both play, with RHJ's good field kicking, that frees up CD to playing further up the ground. 5 on the bench makes it easier also. I'd rather see CD go into a cbd in case of emergency also, instead of Simpkin. Now he's replacing JK

HT in the VFL. Robert Hansen Jr has been superb with his run and skills as a high HB. Whitlock and Darling look strong up forward. Some poor skills in general play. Hardeman is playing deeper in defence, Dawson has done ruck. No Banch or JK. A watch on Tom Powell tonight.

@thoughtfullwon @Juryduty81 I think we are hyping Dawson up, this is a must win game and Dawson got bathed in all the pre season games. Corr can defend especially now he doesn't have to worry about zone defence

Corr and CCJ in, maybe I am wrong but that is taking a step in the wrong direction. No Hardeman, just wrong. Poor team selections this week.

@thoughtfullwon @M_P_C87 @NMFCOfficial Darling has been a great contributor to our team and forward line. But I would have rested him from the trip to WA and set him up for the Dons match. That hot weather didnt do him any favours. Needs to be managed better and gradually phased out for whoever is his successor.

Looking forward to selection integrity this week @NMFCOfficial Hopefully the bus leaves the "passengers" behind. Get some mongrel in the team- Wardlaw, Hardeman, Dawson, Urquhart & Banch. STOP backing in the blokes WHO have let us down year after year.

@kangamerchant Dawson can't play defence full stop- he doesn't have the footy IQ yet. He has to play Key Fwd and ruck. Trembath to the backline. Whitlock to come in to replace Darling &/or Duursma, and play high CHF- use his athleticism and great skills up the ground.

Lots to consider at selection this week ✂️ 1. While I like what Trembath does in the ruck, I don’t like it limiting his forward time. Darling can’t do it with the new rules. Don’t want to play two rucks as Xerri should play big TOG. Can Dawson play defence/chop-out ruck?

@kangamerchant What is Simpkin doing in there creating congestion? He blocks the clear exit for Sheezel and calls for a hb. McKercher pushes his man and gets to the outside. Too many players DO NOT follow the structure and just want to get the ball.

All well and good to get the clearance but it’s another thing to actually use them well. 17th for post clearance ground ball gets in 2025 and have regressed to 18th to start 2026.

@Juryduty81 NO VFL for Wardlaw please- he will play the same regardless. Let's see how this running coach goes with him- hopefully he explains to George that he needs gears in-between 1st and 5th. At the moment he has two speeds stop and flatout, stop is becoming more frequent.

With all these hamstring concerns happening in the AFL, I would treadmill carefully with Wardlaw if I was North Melbourne, a game or 2 in the 2s wont hurt him for conditioning.

@kangamerchant Duursma shouldn't be coming out of the team for Wardlaw- they are not like for like. If he loses his spot, it should be for Spargo or Banch. IMO Powell should make way- his first half last week was really poor, with one stand out 3rd quarter where he had 9 disposals.

Game day - obviously another must win game tonight. For Zane, it’s a must impress game. Disappoint, and he will probably be seen as an easy out for Wardlaw. First game against his younger brother, would love to see him kick a few and get the chocolates. Go Kangas! 🟦⬜️

If it’s not this week it’s next week and I think he takes Konstanty spot. Hardeman in for run and defensive strength - I think over Duursma.

GWardlaw- Under no circumstances should @NMFCOfficial consider sending him to Perth first up with his history of hamstring injuries. There is nothing to gain, and the long plane flight is not ideal at this stage. Give him a conditioning load on the weekend, & unleash him vs Ess

@mitch23bates You can see from day one of pre-season that Zane has matured in mind & body- staying switched on and in the contest with little tap ons, quick hb release, pressure & tackling, and just doing the team things. Stays in the team for me.
