What is the Spanish term for a mature maize plant that lacks ear shoots? (Barren in English) Mexican Spanish is most immediately relevant, but I'm also interested in other dialects!

@adeelzafarpbg # of ears where 1+ kernels were set/# of pollination attempts. I figure there's some human error involved too. 🥵 Each point represents 1 accession on 1 day. Sometimes that captures 1 pollination attempt, other times it captures 200+. I'm just beginning to explore the data. 😎

@vbern Cool, but do you really mean pollination or fertilization or seed setting?

11 years of Ames 🌽genebank hand pollination data plotted against maximum daily air temperature. Pollination success does indeed decline above 95F/35C. 🥵

@vbern @BunchBikes We will have staff check into this. The winds yesterday blew a lot of snow back on west and north sides of roads and paths. Thanks for letting us know!

@Evwool No--they will freeze outside where I live or basically melt at temperatures above 29C. Activity is significantly reduced below 13C.

@Ballykae @FranklinHabit I took a trip to Iceland with my grandma in 2019. She is a well traveled lady who lived abroad in the 90s. Yet, she pulled a fat wad of greenbacks out at the grocery store (where we bought yarn 😁). Luckily, I was there to intervene-- the cashier was dumbfounded.

Hi guys, when you grow transgenic corns in greenhouse, have you been asked by the USDA-APHIS to collect all the water waste from irrigation and sterilize it?

I'm so very impressed with @NAPlantBreeders and the diversity dinner this evening. @CyDiversity and all the speakers were excellent. I can't effectively relay how happy I am that NAPB has included this session and these topics -- well done!
