One of the highlights of Friday's event was hearing from Sarah J. Buszka, MPA, Director of the Applied AI Lab at Waukesha County Technical College. There's a certain kind of person who name-drops neuromorphic computing not to impress a room, but because it's genuinely just part of their thinking. Sarah is that person. What gets me is that her work is happening inside a technical college. These institutions are a sleeping giant in the frontier technology conversation, and Sarah is exactly the kind of person who understands that. She's not waiting for someone else to lead — she's building the lab, running an AI accelerator, and showing up in rooms like this one. That's what the @WiscTechCouncil and @WEDCNews's Ignite Wisconsin grant are making possible — not just funding, but unlocking people who were already ready to move. On Feb 25, WBBC founding member @t9let testified before the Wisconsin Senate in support of SB 885. The bill clarifies that digital asset staking and staking-as-a-service are not securities under Wisconsin law, helping keep innovation and opportunity in our state.

It's time for Wisconsin and the remaining states to catch up on crypto staking clarity. 🙏 Federal guidance has cleared the path: staking is legal and doesn't trigger securities issues when done right. Yet in places like California, Maryland, New Jersey, and right here in Wisconsin, outdated rules still block everyday folks from earning rewards on assets they already own. That's millions in missed passive income for families, retirees, and small investors, all while innovation flows to friendlier jurisdictions. I've watched hearings and seen the genuine questions from leaders who want to get this right. The tech can seem complex at first, but the basics are straightforward: proof-of-stake secures networks efficiently, rewards participants, and keeps America leading in blockchain. Banking groups have valid concerns about consumer protection and fair competition, so let's address them head on with smart, balanced laws that protect users without stifling progress. We need clear state-level definitions that align with federal rulings: let people stake responsibly, earn what's theirs, and contribute to stronger, more secure networks. I'm working with legislators, industry leaders, and advocates to move bills forward that deliver exactly that; economic liberty, innovation at home, and real benefits for Wisconsin families.
