New skill unlocked! 🔓
NASA’s PACE satellite, known for measuring tiny ocean organisms and particles in the atmosphere, has a new ability: it can track nitrogen dioxide, a harmful air pollutant. go.nasa.gov/3ZZ9U9B
Other satellites can also measure nitrogen dioxide that is released from burning fossil fuels and wood. But PACE can do so at a higher resolution, allowing scientists to pinpoint emission sources as small as an individual factory or specific section of highways.
