DLSS 5 represents the first big, literally game-changing example of neural rendering in gaming, posing an array of questions the games industry will need to find answers for: digitalfoundry.net/news/2026/03/d…
@digitalfoundry "ai slop should be no where near gaming" changed the title for you, the fact you still try to be all coy with the title says a lot about the little integrity you guys have got left
@digitalfoundry It looks great and I think people should be happy about it. Don’t turn it on if you don’t want to use it.
But the fact is that this is the future and even PlayStation is doing their own version of it ..
It’s the future 🤷🏻♂️
@digitalfoundry If you forgot, DF are the "super early previewers" that figured 3080 was "nearly 2 times faster" than 2080.
They were also "gaming at 8k with 3090" back in 2020.
A total coincidence, no shilling at all. Also, amazing visual improvement, very realistic everything.
@digitalfoundry The most important answer they need to provide is how quickly can they get this to the gamers? This is incredible technology, I want to be able to turn it on immediately, on all my games!
@digitalfoundry Hasn’t AI in graphics gone in completely wrong direction?
Applying filters over defined images, rather than offloading simulation of inherently chaotic systems?
Maybe it should train on 3D inputs and find use in approximating things like VFX, liquids, foliage or distant crowds?
@digitalfoundry This feels a bit oversimplified. NVIDIA’s DLSS 5 documentation describes a neural renderer driven by color + motion vectors and anchored to the 3D scene: not generic video AI. That’s quite different from “just generating video”. Worth clarifying.
@digitalfoundry You're losing all credibility with this garbage. Even the environments look terrible and unnatural. This goes against basically every other video you've done on Path Tracing and Ray Tracing. Nothing about that hair was "impressive" or accurate. It changed her roots entirely.
@digitalfoundry wow look at that, first video glazing nvidia, then tries to walk it back in the DF direct, and then double the fuck down right after lmao. that monthly sponsorship from nvidia money is just too good.
@digitalfoundry Its extremely clear Nvidia have said its all approved and done by the developer. Its nit jsut something you turn on in any game. Only if the develooer has chosen to use it.
Stop pandering to people who assume its switch toggle thst simpmy works on any game. It isnt.
@digitalfoundry Still funny how people are upset and the goal has been always to get to realistic and not realistic fantasy in games. GTA V got millions of views and likes on Realistic mods no one complained and embraced it. Use DLSS 5 snd tweak it yourself if you don't like what it does or not.
@digitalfoundry Game-changing in the sense that you should change any game that has that dlss5 abomination in favor of developers not trying to cut corners. This dlss5 is just mediocrity.
@digitalfoundry It looks pretty cool to me. Groupthink of "AI in gaming is bad" is all this backlash is all about. Not a single person has shared a unique perspective. Its the same talking points by them all.
@digitalfoundry I for one loved your coverage and was equally excited on what this means for the future. Also liked the thoughts you shared today on this. My only wish is that you still share more footage (that you mentioned) in a longer video..because I would like to know more and see more. :)
@digitalfoundry DLSS is meant to be an upscaler that tries to bring an image as close to 4k. It’s not meant to change the image to look like something different. Now if they kept this separate and called it for what it is like “Nvidia AI rendering” or something then fine but this is not DLSS
@digitalfoundry Give it some time and lets see what it looks like once artist use it in their process from the ground up. Proper level balancing and tonemapping would do a lot
@digitalfoundry All the problem is naming this DLSS. As an experimental feature added with another name, even if the upscaler does some AI tricks too, it will be a no problem and an interesting optional feature. We should be able to use DLSS only as supersampling/gain performance/image polish.
@digitalfoundry Ai is the future and no one can put it back in the box. Most people want it and when the right product or tech comes out people will adopt it or be stuck in a past generation
