I’ve come to the really difficult decision to recycle most of my remaining backlog of old Scene newspapers.
@theadamhouston is buying his Nanny and PaPaw’s old house and that’s where most of these things have been stored for years now. I realize that many of you would want them for your collections, but I have to let them go sooner rather than later.
I’m keeping the box I have on hand from Al Kinney’s incredibly well-preserved collection and a quite large run of pristine uncirculated issues.
I have also made peace with this … if and when the digitized Scene archive ever becomes available, it will be without my direct involvement. With God as my witness, I didn’t mean to alienate the wrong people, but that’s exactly what’s happened.
I’m in the process of making plans to give the digitized archive to others within the industry. My hope is that they’ll be able to move the project past the finish line.
One note to my forever bossman, @stevewaid. Steve, I’m sorry I couldn’t make this happen myself. I gave it my best shot. You deserve better.

@jcoker1 I’ve sat on the grass banks a few times. In turns 4 and 1 and off 2! We would buy the chicken bone section tickets for the cheapest seats and sit on the banks!

@jcoker1 I was at this race. Me and my Dad were in the infield.

@jcoker1 The Kingsport Times News is our hometown paper. My Dad was a part time sportswriter for them. I remember Denny Darnell well. He loved racing and eventually got more involved and I believe worked for NASCAR and Winston!

Just a quick update on my uncle Bill Gardner. He took another spill the other day and for the second time in 6 months broke his hip. He's recovering from surgery and has been up and around in the hospital. He could use some positive any positive energy you could send his way!

@CBird73936300 Was this the race Earnhardt came across Richards hood in turn 1 in the first lap?! He looks to be going low right on the start.

@thwacknicklaus There was no internet when I first played golf. So learning the game came from digging it out of the dirt. But in the early ‘90s I used a Medicus on a driving range. It literally taught me a swing plane that I’ve used since that day. Changed my life and helped my game!

@InsideTourGolf 40-50 maybe close to 60. Never really counted. I just know when they misbehave they are banished to the basement until they reach the top of the list again and get another shot in the bag!

@GordonManl35328 @NASCARClassics @S1apSh0es @phoenixraceway We got to the track early Friday morning and stayed all weekend. There was almost always on track action and a ton of trailers full of souvenirs to look through. No practice hardly anymore and the trailers are fewer these days. It just seems different now.

@22HighLifeFan @NASCARClassics @S1apSh0es @phoenixraceway I know that must have been a wonderful feeling!

@CHANNEL_TN_ I got to see my first game in 1974! Been going ever since. Best game I saw live was the ‘86 Sugar Bowl when they beat Miami!

@MattAdamsFoL When I was a kid growing up playing golf, I threw some clubs myself back then. One day my Father told me this story and what Arnold’s Dad said to him. I don’t remember how old I was but I remember the speech from my Father. I’ve never forgotten it. I miss my Father.

A moment of frustration for Arnold Palmer as a 16-year-old junior golfer led to a life-altering warning from his father: 'If you ever do that again, you'll never play golf as long as you live in my house.' This lesson shaped a legend. #GolfLessons #Parenting #Discipline

@JHCBpersimmon I would like to add one of these beauties to my golf bag!
