The Minister was pleased to meet Solomon Islands Prime Minister Matthew Wale today, who was accompanied by Foreign Minister Rick Houenipwela and Education Minister Stephen Kumi.
The Minister congratulated PM Wale on the recent formation of his Government. They discussed a range of subjects, including:
- how we can further build the Solomon Islands - NZ bilateral relationship;
- NZ’s support to Solomon Islands in education, particularly in vocational education;
- Solomon Islands’ recovery from the recent Cyclone Maila; and
- the importance of the Pacific Islands Forum to support stability in the region, including the Forum’s role in addressing shared challenges such as the fuel crisis.
