After a discussion with their attorney, I have confirmed that Juan, his 16-month-old sister, his mom, and his dad have been deported. According to their attorney, ICE deported the family with only the money that they had in their commissary—a total of $190. To unnecessarily deport a sick baby and his entire family is heinous. My staff and I are in contact with Juan’s family. We are laser-focused on tracking them down, holding ICE accountable for this monstrous action, demanding specific details on their whereabouts and wellbeing, and ensuring their safety.

.@EileenHiggins campaigned on ending Miami’s cooperation with ICE , yet now the responsibility is being pushed onto commissioners. Immigrant communities deserve decisive leadership, not political deflection.

Miami Commissioners need to revote on their disastrous decision to sign a police-ICE collaboration agreement, and if they don’t want to do it, newly elected mayor Eileen Higgins has the power to place the item up for a vote.

These two bicycles have been locked in front Miramar Ice office for months. They belong to people who came to comply with their check-in orders, and never came back out. Behind each one is an interrupted life, a family waiting, an absence no official record reflects.

Today, the Miramar Circle of Protection observed a mixed pattern: some check-ins set a year away, others 4 months or less. Shorter timelines mainly affected people with I-220B, reinforcing concerns about heightened enforcement for this group.

Today – Miramar Family members praying together for their loved ones detained inside ICE in Miramar. Most were given 1-year appointments; those under I-220B received 3-month appointments. A long wait marked by uncertainty.
