@the_dailytrade @SonofManwithus Yeah.. cuz Jesus "never" spoke in metaphor.... I'll never understand this view. If he was being literal here I think it would be more explicitly literal. I enjoy the Lord's supper, but believe it's a symbol of obedience to His will.

As "do this", we the Church understand the full enchilada. We believe Jesus wasn't lying when he said "this is my body,... this is my blood". So the bread was literally his body, the wine literally his blood (John 6: 55-60). So doing "this" means doing exactly that what Jesus did. We, the Church, do this every day. You are not "off base", you just haven't covered the fullness of it.

This has never made sense to me. At the Last Supper when Jesus broke the bread and shared the wine... He said "do this in memory of me". I know the catholic church and some other denominations have communion. But I always interpreted that as having a meal of fellowship in his name. Eating and having a drink, talking about our lord and loving each other. Am I way off base?

And he never claimed that you need a priest to talk with God. In fact, he said that HE was our high priest, so we didnt need one any longer (hence personal relationship).

The ice is finally breaking, and I am truly hopeful. In the past two days, two of my friends who were diehard supporters of Trump called me and said they were wrong. One of them told me his trucking business is falling apart because of Trump's immigration policy, tariffs, and high fuel costs. He was disappointed that Trump did not deliver on his promises. He said he would not vote for Trump if he had known then what he knows now. My second friend asked me for forgiveness. He said he had been deceived by the promises Trump made to Christians. He even compared Trump to Putin and added that he now understands how the antichrist could deceive believers. I had a really good conversation with both of them. I was not angry. Honestly, I never thought this day would come, when eyes would open and the ice would begin to break. So yes, I am hopeful.

Baptists follow the bible most literally and practically though. Every one else seems to add in too much "tradition" that isnt biblical (IMO)

"sleep training" a newborn means letting a defenseless baby scream for its mother in the dark until it's either exhausted or has given up on life. the attachment literature is clear that before 6 months, a baby crying with nobody coming learns exactly one thing, that calling for help doesn't work and you even have parents bragging about how they tortured their kid into an 8h sleep you need to attend to every need of your child. they don't have a prefrontal cortex able to understand what's happening. if you love them and care for them, they'll barely cry, and when they do there's a clear reason you can address right away
