Since I was born I have never heard a Christian scream "in the name of Jesus Christ" before taking someone's life.

Iran is not a “Muslim-ruled country” as if that phrase alone explains anything—it’s a nation with a rich, complex history, diverse communities, and millions of people whose experiences aren’t yours to speak for in the singular. And let’s be clear: the Iranian regime is not an Islamic government—it is an enemy of Islam and Muslims. Look at the destruction it has caused across every Muslim country it has touched. From Syria to Lebanon to Iraq to Yemen, its hand is behind the killing, the displacement, the sectarian chaos. It has spilled more Muslim blood than any self-proclaimed “Islamic” entity in modern history. So spare us the pretense that this regime represents Islam. It doesn’t. It has hijacked a faith and weaponized it to destroy Muslim societies. You say the people of Iran “know the truth” as if they all agree with you. They don’t. Many Iranians hold deep religious beliefs, many oppose the regime for reasons that have nothing to do with Islam, and many would challenge the idea that your personal experience represents their reality. What you call “honesty” often becomes a blanket dismissal of an entire society, and when that happens, it stops being testimony and starts being rhetoric. If you want to speak about the regime, speak precisely. Name the institution, the policy, the specific act. But don’t wrap yourself in victimhood to insulate a political narrative from being questioned. Criticism is fair—using your experience to shut down counterarguments isn’t.

I grew up in Iran, a Muslim-ruled country, under a regime that killed its own people. That’s not a political opinion. That’s my lived experience. So when I speak about it, I’m not being Islamophobic. I’m being honest. The people of Iran know the truth. They’re living it every day. It’s time we stop being afraid to say it out loud.
