Totally misleading headline to anyone outside Manchester. Being used by RW media It’s a single council in GM (Trafford), not “GM council” - which doesn’t exist. Trafford was run for years by the Tories who froze council tax, creating the current problems.

@garyyounge You are comparing a rural ward in a Tory seat where Labour sneaked a 39 vote win in a historic landslide with one of Labour's historically safest seats & you think talking up a Green win is the best way of defeating Reform? The only risk of a Reform win is nonsense like this.

But mostly because of the economic choice to let supermarkets sell alcohol as a loss leader. No matter the other excuses, an ex-pub goer will say - 1/2

Today I walked the 5.8 miles to work. From Withington, through Moss Side & Hulme- the bit Sir 'Jim Rat' has never visited [& never will]. The Claremont pub is still serving, and the area's alright, if a little run down. The final shot is of 'Jim's World', of bribery & money.

Genuinely shocked that the Green candidate for Gorton & Denton isn't a union member. After her dog-whistle comment about Levenshulme businesses in her Mumsnet post and leaving to live in one of the most exclusive and least diverse parts of Greater MCR I shouldn't be surprised.

Earlier this week our @prestonlabour Council passed a motion supporting @NorthWestUNISON in their campaign to prevent the closure or privatisation of Lancashire care homes and day care facilities by the Reform led County Council. I agree with Andy's disappointment. Decisions on selections should be made by the CLP, and we should have the widest choice possible in order to get the right candidate for what will be a tough campaign.
