OK, I am going to keep throwing sh*tty ideas out here until they get less sh*tty over time. Here is another one: Kids that play competitive youth sports typically do a lot of training outside of the stuff they do with their team. Many parents I know lament that the kids are dialed in when they are out doing it with their friends in person, but around the house, all they want to do is play video games. A lot of the stuff that parents drag their kids around to do could be done at home, if not for the motivation problem. This would mean less time in the car, and less $$ out the door. I think of companies like Strava that turned the roads into a game. "King/Queen of the Mountain" really means something in Strava-land. I think of companies like Foursquare that got people competitive about becoming the mayor of their favorite coffee shop or bowling alley. And I think of companies like Topgolf that made practicing your golf swing something that people prioritize as a social engagement, because it is fun to do so. Is there a way to make at-home youth sports skills training fun? What would that look like? Here are some ideas: - it could tell you what to do each day - it could show you your progress over time - you could have friends you "train with" that see your stats as well - you could have leaderboards - there could be challenges - you could have virtual skills competitions, NHL All Star Game-style - it could use computer vision to audit and provide suggestions for improvement - climbing the leaderboard in your sport could be a status thing players would want to showcase to their peers, coaches, etc What do you think?

A lot of people hate email. I'm not one of them - I've always liked email for certain needs: simple communicaion, using it as a to-do list, keeping records of conversations etc. One of the most valuable use cases for me over the years has been summarization of information. There's just way too much info out there to find myself - so I subscribe to several roundup type emails. Marketing Brew for digital marketing news. The Coach's Clipboard for youth basketball drills. And now that I'm close to 50, Thrive25 for health and longevity news. A few months back, I was looking for a tool to help me create my own newsletter around the intersection of digital marketing and ChatGPT. I found a niche service called Newsblok that had all the functionality I wanted. I happened to come across it on Acquire.com - a couple of great entrepreneurs from Morocco built in and were looking to sell it. I had some great conversations with them and ended up purchasing it. I wanted to add new features and change the brand a bit, so I worked with one of the developers to build it out over the last few months. And now we're re-launching it as Newsblocks --> newsblocks.ai It's still in beta, but please check it out and let me know what you think. It's perfect for people looking to create roundup-type email newsletters (aka information summarization). The chrome extension allows you to add and summarize article as you're reading them (your "blocks"). And then the AI will help to generate a full newsletter. It's not going to replace your opinions and original thoughts, so you'll need to add those yourself as usual. But it will save tons of time by summarizing and creating the structure for you. It's certainly a beta product, so be kind. Or don't! Either way, would love to hear if you have any comments. Thanks!

🧵NEW THREAD🧵 How I went from an Average D3 Pitcher to First - Team All - American and Cape Cod New England Player of the Year, in less than 2 years. This isn't a thread for me to post my accomplishments. This is to show baseball performance is not what social media makes it.

FOLLOW ALONG Let them mock you, laugh at you, make fun of you, talk behind your back. They are terrified. Terrified you’re going to make it and they’re not. Don’t listen to their opinions. They are trying to pull you back to their level. Advance. Be the idiot.

Zoom Offense Actions - Why Use the Zoom! - 3 Zoom Reads - 2 Zoom Variations - 3 Counters to Defensive Adjustments - 4 Sets Using Zoom Action - 2 Zoom Out of Bounds Plays "Reply" below if you'd like the Zoom Offense Breakdown Drills! The Zoom action creates large gaps for the dribble drive and creates indecision for the defense, which are keys to a successful offense. The Zoom Action has become very popular in the NBA and college levels, but it's easy to teach and use at even the Youth level. Basketball Teams such as Northern Iowa and Loyola Chicago run motion offense centered around this specific action. Finally, the channels. Paid search is the lowest-hanging fruit. Beyond that, the most effective channel isn't always the most obvious. Look for underutilized platforms where your audience hangs out. The road less traveled often holds a lot of promise.
