The Boda Boda sector in our country is experiencing significant growth, providing employment opportunities for many youths. According to a World Bank report, the sector employs approximately 1.5 million people, contributing around Kshs. 202 billion to the economy annually. In Narok County, numerous youths have actively participated in this business trend. Recognizing the need to address challenges and enhance the sector's efficiency, I attended the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Narok Boda Boda Association at the William Ole Ntimama Stadium this morning. I am committed to streamlining the industry, beginning with comprehensive training for all Boda Boda operators in the county to ensure compliance with road safety rules. As a starting point, I have initiated training with a driving school for the first batch of 500 riders from within Narok town. Additionally, to enhance their operational convenience, I plan to construct 10 shades in select stages across Narok town, starting from Monday. Considering the high cost of living, I have directed a reduction in the monthly sticker charges for Boda Boda motorcycles from Kshs. 300 to 200. During this initiative, I was accompanied by County Commissioner Isaac Masinde, Majority Leader Sonkoi Lemein, Deputy Speaker Isaac Dapaash, Kapsasian MCA Jackson Ng'ok, Maasai Council of Elders Chairman Kelena Ole Nchoe, and Senior County Staff.
